  • Publication number: 20150051603
Abstract: A hardenable two part acrylic composition is described for the treatment of human or animal bone is described. The composition comprises a storage stable liquid first part and a storage stable liquid second part which react with each other upon mixing to form a cement which hardens. The composition further comprises an acrylic monomer component and an initiator component in an amount effective to polymerize the monomer component. The monomer component and the initiator component are generally located in separate parts of the two part composition so that the monomer component is storage stable. The liquid first part comprises emulsion polymerized acrylic polymer particles in a liquid carrier. A method of producing a hardenable two part acrylic composition is also described. The composition is particularly useful in a syringe or caulking gun having at least two barrels.

  • Patent number: 8729378
Abstract: As described herein, a sound pickup for musical cymbals includes an integrated assembly attachable to a cymbal stand. The integrated assembly includes a plurality of microphones arranged and electrically connected such that the resulting amplified sound is of optimal quality and of relatively constant loudness regardless of cymbal tilt. In one embodiment, two microphones are used, with the signal phase from one microphone being inverted prior to combination with the signal from the other microphone. The inversion is implemented using an inverter and serves to cancel signals that are in phase with one another and augment signals that are out of phase with one another. This, along with suitable placement of the pickup, exploits the fact that the more desirable components of the cymbal's vibration at the inflection point of the cymbal are out of phase with each other, whereas the less-desirable components are in phase with each other.

  • Patent number: 8699875
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and method of dispersion measurement in an optical fiber network. The invention provides means for transmitting from a transmitting node, using a single tunable laser transmitter, two consecutive bursts of data at different wavelengths ?1 and ?2 to a receiver node, wherein each burst of data comprises a unique sequence of amplitude modulated data, and wherein the two sequences are injected with a fixed known delay. The delay between the two consecutive bursts of data is maintained by selective switching of the tunable laser, such that clock recovery circuitry at the receiver node remains locked during the delay between the two bursts. The dispersion measurements method of the present invention is based on walk off and bit position detection between two wavelengths suitable for fast optical burst switching network is described. This method does not require an operator, extra equipment, or traffic interruption on the network.

  • Publication number: 20130222388
Abstract: A method of compressing a graph representation, and method of solving a problem represented by a graph using graph compression enable improved data searching techniques. The graph representation includes a plurality of vertices and a plurality of edges. A first clustered graph is generated by clustering the plurality of vertices of the graph representation. Each cluster of vertices is then replaced by a clustered vertex, wherein the clustered vertex inherits edges from the vertices of the cluster. Superfluous edges of the first clustered graph are then removed. A traversal probability for each of the removed edges is determined, and one or more of the edges that have been removed is selected for embedding in the first clustered graph, based upon a traversal probability for each of the edges. Information relating to the one or more edges is then embedded into the first clustered graph.
