  • Patent number: 6651656
Abstract: An apparatus, method and system for non-invasive breathing assistance to a patient. The apparatus comprises a hose or other gas conduit with a valve. Proximity of the patient to a sensor causes the valve to open, directing a pressurized stream of air or other gas at the patient's mouth, assisting the patient in breathing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 29, 2001
Date of Patent: November 25, 2003
    Assignee: Deka Products Limited Partnership
Inventors: Jason A. Demers, David McGill
  • Patent number: 6619288
Abstract: A breathing mask for delivering oxygen to a patient. The breathing mask has a headset for seating about the cranial region of the head of the patient, with a hollow gas delivery arm coupled to the headset. The mask also has a nosepiece that is coupled only to the hollow gas delivery arm and that delivers oxygen to the nostrils of the patient. Finally, the mask has a source of oxygen for coupling oxygen to the hollow gas delivery arm.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 29, 2001
Date of Patent: September 16, 2003
    Assignee: Deka Products Limited Partnership
Inventors: Jason A. Demers, David McGill, Brian Daniel Tracey

  • Patent number: 6365812
Abstract: A drum head material is prepared by assembling a multi-layer laminate comprising upper and lower sheets of resilient, polymeric film and at least two oriented fiber layers positioned between said sheets. Each of the oriented fiber layers comprises parallel resilient fibers having high modulus of elasticity and a defined direction of orientation. The layers are positioned such that the directions of orientation of the two layers intersect. The layers are pressed to adhere them and form a drumhead membrane. In the preferred form, the films are of polyethylene terephthalate and the fibers are of polyaramid. If two fiber layers are employed, the fibers in the layers preferably intersect at right angles. If three layers of fibers are employed, the fibers preferably intersect at an angle of 60 degrees.
