  • Publication number: 20100040711
Abstract: A method for prophylactically treating irritable bowel syndrome in a mammal through the administration of a zinc carnosine composition like zinc carnosine is provided, although other forms of zinc carnosine or other components exhibiting zinc carnosine activity like other metal carnosine complexes may be used. The effective amount of composition to be used will depend upon such factors as the age and weight of the mammal, and whether treatment of existing IBS symptoms, or prevention of the onset of IBS symptoms is desired. A complex comprising such a zinc carnosine composition for prophylactically treating IBS in a mammal is also provided.

  • Patent number: 4063602
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for offshore drilling is described which is particularly useful for drilling in deep water from a floating surface vessel. Drilling fluid is introduced into a drill string extending from the vessel into a wellbore in the floor of the body of water. In order to maintain a controlled hydrostatic pressure within the riser, drilling fluids are diverted from the lower end of the riser and are either discharged into the body of water or pumped to the surface through a return conduit adjacent the riser.
