Abstract: A flat cable comprises a series of parallel electrical conductors (1 to 6) each carrying a spiral-wound tape insulation layer (30). The conductors are held together by braiding formed of a plurality of tapes (10 to 22) or fibres interwoven between the conductors. The braiding is preferably of a thermoplastic material which may be heat bonded to the insulation in order to set the cable in a desired shape e.g. for a wiring loom. The insulation and braiding is preferably formed from a mixture of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and perfluoro(propylvinylether).

Abstract: There is disclosed a tubular protective sheath for containing a power transmission conduit, the sheath comprising: first and second flexible elements each helically arranged to form respective inner and outer tubular members. The first element is in the form of a first electrically insulating film having respective first and second layers of electrically conductive low melt material adherent to its opposite surfaces. The second element is in the form of a second electrically insulating film having a third layer of electrically conductive low melt material adherent to one surface.

Abstract: Disclosed are hypodermic syringes having special safety features for preventing the user from inadvertently pricking himself with the needle. In the preferred embodiment the barrel of, for example, a syringe is provided with a sleeve that can be drawn out over the needle and firmly locked into position to prevent accidental contact of the user with the needle.
