Abstract: Runtime services for network software platforms are described. In one implementation, runtime services are configured for a web application. A configuration file is created containing tags that provide references to configuration information specific to operational behavior of the web application. The configuration file is read upon receiving a request to start the web application. The runtime services for the web application are initialized based on the configuration information read from the configuration file.

Abstract: A marker for a faucet is provided to indicate information about the liquid or other flowable product to be dispensed from the faucet. The faucet, itself, includes a body and a handle operatively connected to the body for controlling flow of liquid through the body. The handle includes a base, first and second legs that project outwardly from the base, and a cross-bar that interconnects the legs at a location spaced from the base. The first and second legs and the cross-bar at least partially define an opening. The marker includes a body that is removably secured in the opening of the handle. The body of the marker includes indicia that provides information to a user of the faucet. The body is a resilient polymeric structure. Alternatively, the marker includes a handle engagement hook and a display region that includes indicia. The engagement hook is adapted to be engaged with the cross-bar of the faucet handle.

Abstract: Data is synchronized among multiple web servers, each of which is coupled to a common data server. Each web server retrieves a scheduled activation time from the data server. If the current time is prior to the scheduled activation time, then each web server retrieves updated data from the data server into a staging cache in the web server. At the scheduled activation time, each web server copies data from its staging cache to an active cache in the web server. If a new web server is added or an existing web server is initialized, then data is copied from an active cache in the data server to an active cache in the new or initialized web server. The multiple web servers may be arranged to form a web farm.

Abstract: In inspecting a cathode-ray-tube window having a light-scattering inner surface, a pattern, which approximates the structure of the video images to be viewed through the window, is placed close to or against the inner surface. The pattern is observed through the window, and those local regions where the pattern appears to be distorted are identified.
