    Abstract: An active head restraint system for a vehicle seat includes a head restraint, force pad and connectors. The head restraint and force pad are connected via the connectors. The active head restraint system is connected with a frame of the vehicle seat such that rearward movement of the force pad results in forward movement of the head rest. Springs attached to the active head restraint system and a frame of the seat are used to resist the rearward movement of the force pad.
