The data storage system comprises an enclosure; plural drawer structures each containing plural storage media such as disk drives, wherein the storage media are arranged such that air can pass vertically within the system through and between at least 2 of the plural drawers thereby to cool the disk drives in the system by a vertical flow of air within the system; and air flow generating means to generate a vertical flow of air through the drawers.

Abstract: Synthetic surfaces capable of supporting culture of eukaryotic cells including stem cells and undifferentiated human embryonic stem cells in a chemically defined medium include a swellable (meth)acrylate layer and a polypeptide conjugated to the swellable (meth)acrylate layer. The swellable (meth)acrylate layer may be formed by polymerizing monomers in a composition that includes a carboxyl group-containing (meth)acrylate monomer, a cross-linking (di- or higher-functional) (meth)acrylate monomer, and a hydrophilic monomer capable of polymerizing with the carboxyl group-containing (meth)acrylate monomer and the cross-linking (meth)acrylate monomer. The swellable (meth)acrylate layer has an equilibrium water content in water of between about 5% and about 70%. The conjugated peptide may include an RGD amino acid sequence.

In one aspect the three-dimensional layer is woven fabric of a plain 4-layer tubular weave. Optionally, the outer layer has a three-dimensional relief to simulate three-dimensional structures.

Abstract: A D-type flip-flop 2 includes tristate inverter circuitry 4, 6 passing a processing signal through to storage circuitry 8 from where the processing signal passes via a transmission gate 10 to slave storage circuitry 12. A transition detector 16 is coupled to the input node nm of the storage circuitry 8 and serves to generate an error signal if a transition is detected upon that input node during an error detecting period. Other forms of this technique may provide clock gating circuitry.

Abstract: The Learner Interaction Monitoring Systems (LiMS) is a web-based application that can interface with any web-based course delivery platform to transform the online learning environment into an active observer of learner engagement. The LiMS ‘event capture model’ collects detailed real-time data on learner behavior in self-directed online learning environments, and interprets these data by drawing on behavioral research. The LiMS offers education and training managers in corporate contexts a valuable tool for the evaluation of learner performance and course design. By allowing more detailed demonstration of ROI in education and training, LiMS allows managers to make the case for web based courseware that reflects appropriate and evidence-based instructional design, rather than budgetary constraints.

Abstract: Projection optics for a lithographic projection system is provided that comprises a spatial light modulator (SLM) from which radiation is reflected and directed to a projection lens that projects the radiation to a substrate. The SLM is illuminated by non telecentric off axis illumination (e.g. from laser radiation that has a spectral bandwidth of the order of 1 picometer, and the projection optics is configured for significant reduction (e.g. at least 10× reduction, 20× reduction, or 50× reduction).

Abstract: A tool for navigating composite documents composed of multiple component documents. The tool allows a user to enter a composite document identification number, and thereafter have access to each component document within the composite document. The user can view, compare and display comparisons of the component documents, including versions of component documents. A graphical user interface is provided that prompts the user for required information and provides the user with many useful views for analyzing the component documents. In an embodiment, the composite document is the file history for a patent and the component documents are amendments, including application claims, and other papers found in a file history, such as the patent application, as originally filed, and the resulting patent. One feature of the tool allows the user to select a claim and have all versions of the claim displayed for easy review and analysis.

Abstract: A device and method groups sport players into tiers for a fantasy sports auction and generates bid recommendations. The method includes receiving at least one parameter value for each of a plurality of sport players. The method includes determining a score value for each of the sport players as a function of the at least one parameter value. The method includes determining a corresponding tier value of a plurality of tier values for each of the sport players, each of the tier values being indicative of a respective range of score values. The method includes providing first player data for one of the plurality of sport players including at least identity data and the corresponding tier value. The method includes accepting the nomination of a second player, and generating recommended bid data using the at least one parameter value, and optionally modifying the recommendation thereupon.

Abstract: Information exchange systems and methods (“IES”) are described that allow users of portable devices to initiate exchanges of information with a simple gesture. Detection of this gesture causes the host device to perform a number of actions including one or more of selecting data for an exchange transaction, identifying one or more destination devices to receive the selected data, transferring the selected data to the destination devices, and receiving complementary or corresponding data from the destination devices. The IES thus avoids the requirement for users to perform time consuming and error prone interactions involving complex operations with a device interface in order to initiate data exchanges.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject matter described herein relate to recommending data sources. In aspects, a request to provide recommendations of data enrichments for a database is received at a recommendation engine. The recommendation engine may perform static and dynamic analysis of data associated with the database and may further refine recommendations based on policies. The recommendation engine may then provide the recommendations, if any, of data enrichments to allow a software developer, for example, to indicate whether the data enrichments are to be used.

Abstract: An approach is provided for presenting polymorphic notes in a graphical user interface. A polymorphic note manager receives a request to display a plurality of polymorphic notes on a graphical user interface of a device. In response to the request, the polymorphic note manager determines an order of the plurality of polymorphic notes according to either an associated date or, if there is no associated date, a creation date corresponding to each of the plurality of polymorphic notes. The polymorphic note manager then causes, at least in part, actions that result in display of the plurality of polymorphic notes in the graphical user interface according to the determined order.

Abstract: This invention relates to shipping pallets 10 that may be constructed, at least in part, from structural members 100 that are largely fabricated from paper and paper based materials. One or more of the structural members 100 may include a wrapper 60 secured in tension to a core 20. The core 20 may include one or more laminated fiberboard sheets 40. Because of the use of paper and paper based materials, the one or more aspects of shipping pallets 10 in accordance with the present inventions may be recycled.

The conjugated peptide may include an amino acid sequence of XaanProGlnValThrArgGlyAspValPheThrMetPro, where n is an integer from 0 to 3 and where Xaa is any amino acid. Further, disclosed herein is a swellable (meth)acrylate synthetic surface which can be sterilized by gamma irradiation.
