  • Patent number: 11184258
Abstract: A monitoring system is disclosed that achieves the benefits of active monitoring by providing a holistic view of the network, while obtaining the granularity of a passive monitoring system by testing a large majority or all of the prefixes. In one embodiment, streaming updates of a forwarding plane are captured for devices in a network. Additionally, an initial state of the forwarding plane can be captured for each device. A time-series graph of the forwarding plane can be constructed. In the graph, each node can represent a device and each edge can represent a possible path for a prefix at a given point in time. Graph analysis techniques can be used to analyze the graph and detect errors. For example, cycle detection algorithms can be used on the forwarding plane data to detect microloops. Other techniques can be used to find black holes or capacity bottlenecks.

  • Patent number: 11070658
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a method comprises automatically uploading device information from a first network device in a first operating state to a second network device in response to an event, such as an initial power up. The second network device is part of the cloud, and thus, providing cloud-based services. Subsequent to the uploading of the device information, the first network device receives information controlling the operation of the first network device based on the device information.

  • Patent number: 10819618
Abstract: Devices and techniques are generally described for network device failure testing. In some examples, first data may be received describing a network topology. The network topology may describe a plurality of network components arranged in communication with one another. A first set of equivalent network components and a second set of equivalent network components may be determined from the network topology. A first network performance may be determined for the network topology by simulating network communication while a first network component of the first set of equivalent network components is in an inoperable state. A first test coverage percentage may be determined for the network topology. The first test coverage percentage may be a ratio of a first number of network components of the first set of equivalent network components to a total number of the plurality of network components.
