    Abstract: Methods and systems for preserving the integrity of segments of audio streams are provided. An audio playback device may receive an audio stream from an audio transmission source. The audio stream may include a plurality of segments. The segments may each include a whole or partial song, talk program, commercial, DJ chatter, news or weather report, or the like. The audio stream may be temporarily stored in a buffer that contains a contiguous portion of the audio stream from a preceding time period. The buffer may reside in memory of the audio playback device. Indicia of a selection may be received via a user interface of the audio playback device. The indicia of the selection may be associated with the segment being currently received from the audio transmission source. The segment associated with the indicia of the selection may be stored in memory of the audio playback device.
