  • Patent number: 5440795
Abstract: The pin holes for hammers used in shredders can be changed without the need for removing the hammer pins. A single elliptical hammer pin slot is provided in the hammer. A hammer pin is inserted into one end of the elliptical hammer pin slot and a removable plug is inserted into the slot at the hammer pin thereby securing the pin to the hammer. The pin hole can be changed upon normal wear and tear by removing the plug and sliding the hammer to move the pin to the opposite pin hole at the opposite curved section of the elliptical pin slot. The plug is reinserted at the opposite pin hole thereby securing the pin to the hammer.

  • Patent number: 5381972
Abstract: A downdraft shredder comprising a lower housing, a semicircular lower grate, a chute for supplying material to a rotor cavity and a hood for covering the remainder of the rotor cavity. A rotor with hammers is rotatably mounted in the rotor cavity and draws material from the chute against the lower grate for shredding the material. A plate extending in the hood from the rotor cavity to a back corner of the hood, allows air entrained by the rotor to stabilize thereby preventing an updraft of air through the chute. This produces a true downdraft shredder which represents a modification over known shredders.

  • Patent number: 5381976
Abstract: A hammer for use in shredders and comprising a hammer holder with a dovetail key and a hammer tip having a dovetail groove shaped to receive the dovetail key. The hammer tip is slidably engageable with the hammer holder by sliding the dovetail groove over the dovetail key. Centrifugal force from the hammer rotation keeps the tip secured to the holder. The hammer tip is also wider than the hammer holder in order to protect the holder from wear and tear.

  • Patent number: 4871073
Abstract: A disc screen separator device for separating or classifying materials. The disc screen separator device includes a plurality of parallel, spaced apart corotating shafts each having a plurality of spaced apart separator discs mounted thereon for rotation therewith. The separator discs on adjacent shafts are interspaced. A plurality of spacers are located between adjacent separator discs on each shaft to maintain the spacing between adjacent separator discs on each shaft. Both the separator discs and spacer discs are fabricated of a resilient material. In an alternative embodiment, a disc screen separator device includes a plurality of sets of first shafts, the shafts of the sets of first shafts being parallel, spaced apart, and corotating with a plurality of spaced apart separator discs mounted on the first shafts for rotation therewith. A second shaft is located in the interval between sets of first shafts with a plurality of agitator discs mounted on the second shafts for rotation therewith.
