Assignee: BHP Billiton Petroleum Pty Ltd.
Inventors: Joel Aron Witz, David N. Cox
  • Patent number: 7797661
Abstract: A method and apparatus for describing and managing properties of a transformer coil. A metadata text file is generated which contains metadata describing objects of the transformer coil. The objects are arranged hierarchically and have one or more related properties attached therewith. One or more properties of one object refer to one or more other properties of the same object or of other objects by means of paths defined in the metadata text file. The generated metadata text file is then stored.

  • Patent number: 7795884
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for calculating the number of turns per segment of a transformer coil winding which has a plurality of segments connected in series. The number of turns per segments is computed by assigning to segments predefined parameters related to customer requirements. Then a system of linear equations is automatically generated and the equations are simultaneously solved.

  • Patent number: 7721241
Abstract: A method and tool for creating documentation for a transformer design uses design files created during the transformer design process to generate drawings and other information necessary to populate documentation. The design files contain information relating to the physical layout of all of the components of the coil as well as the electrical connectivity of the windings. The method and tool retrieve the design information, construct the associated drawings, format the drawings to the appropriate sizes, and display any associated text.

  • Patent number: 7376664
Abstract: A preferred method for evaluating a transformer design using data representing test results from a plurality of transformers and stored in a data base includes comparing the data representing test results to predetermined criteria for the test results to determine whether the test results satisfy the predetermined criteria. The preferred method also includes counting the number of the test results that do not satisfy the predetermined criteria, and generating an indication that a predetermined quantity of the test results do not satisfy the predetermined criteria if at least the predetermined quantity of the test results do not satisfy the predetermined criteria.
