  • Patent number: 11559077
Abstract: A carrier, apparatus and method for making an aerosol precursor liquid suitable for aerosolized delivery by a device such as an electronic cigarette. A carrier is fluid permeable and comprises a tobacco-derived medium for carrying a functional component, the medium being configured to release the functional component into a fluid to provide an aerosol precursor liquid infused with the functional component. A method for mixing an aerosol precursor liquid for aerosolized delivery of a functional component by an aerosol delivery device comprises bringing the tobacco-derived medium carrying the functional component into contact with fluid and allowing the fluid to saturate the medium to thereby cause the medium to release the functional component into said fluid to form an aerosol precursor liquid infused with the functional component. A receptacle comprising a chamber for the carrier is provided for mixing the aerosol precursor liquid. Example functional components include nicotine and nicotine salts.

  • Publication number: 20210037892
Abstract: A smoking substitute device and a system for managing a smoking substitute device. In one example, the smoking substitute device comprises a control unit; and an interface configured to communicate with an external device. In this example, the control unit is configured to, after a predetermined action is performed using the smoking substitute device, disable the smoking substitute device when a predetermined criteria relating to usage of the smoking substitute device is met and/or a predetermined length of time has elapsed. In this example, the control unit is configured to enable the smoking substitute device when a signal indicating that an age verification test has been passed by a user of the smoking substitute device is received by the smoking substitute device. Other techniques relating to disabling the smoking substitute device are also disclosed.
