  • Patent number: 8549121
Abstract: A data management system and method including a point of control configured to manage one or more target systems. The point of control divides a command sequence into a number of individual commands, and provides the individual commands to the stateless-agentless target system for execution. Furthermore, the point of control maintains the state of the command sequence and monitors the target system. As such, the target system is both “stateless” (i.e., the target system maintains no state information related to the command sequence) and “agentless” (i.e., the target system includes no software for the purpose of monitoring the target system.

  • Publication number: 20070208602
Abstract: A system and method for provisioning a user with one or more related computing resources (e.g., applications, content, and/or services) which are collected into a bundle. The bundled computing resources are directed to the performance of one or more tasks. In addition, one or more workflows may be established and associated with the bundle to guide the user in his or her interaction with the bundle and computing resources contained therein. A user profile may be established which includes information related to a specific user. The user profile may be associated with the one or more bundles, and used to govern the user's interaction with the bundle(s). The present invention also includes a centralized search engine which allows a user and/or third party provider of computing resources or bundles to search for and locate a workflow, user profile, task profile, and/or bundle.

  • Publication number: 20060200773
Abstract: There is provided herein an exemplary technique utilizing at least one application status icon for visualizing the status of important metrics of, e.g., one or more applications running within a compute infrastructure. In an exemplary embodiment, the application status icon is located on a device display, preferably as part of a graphical user interface icon tray, such as Microsoft® Windows® system tray. To generate the appropriate color of the application status icon, several predefined test or database queries are executed lo determine the status of a desired application. Thereafter, the determined status is compared to a plurality of threshold conditions, which determine the state of a given status metric and contribute to the overall color of the application status icon, preferably located on the display device. Thus, a user or manager need not run an application to check its status.

  • Publication number: 20060101134
Abstract: Provided herein are exemplary techniques for visualizing patterns of changes and behavior on a compute infrastructure wherein a Differential View user interface provides for complete visualization of infrastructure change and behavior and further provides interactive filters that identify and display patterns of change and behavior, on a graduated scale, for the compute infrastructure as a whole and for specific groups within the infrastructure.

  • Publication number: 20050120101
Abstract: Provided herein is a system and method for detecting unauthorized and accidental changes to a compute infrastructure. In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the system comprises: Manager Nodes (e.g., Managers, Managers with Gateways), Gateways, and Managed Nodes (e.g., Managed Nodes with Agents, Agentless Managed Nodes, Managed Software Components, such as application software, and Managed Special Devices). Agents are comprised of multiple Simple or Dynamic Beans that are used to manage list of Attributes. Simple Beans manage fixed lists of Attributes and Dynamic Beans manage variable lists of Attributes. The system provides for specialized reporting of unauthorized or accidental changes to the compute infrastructure by, among other things, enabling the Attributes to be reported as a single attribute and/or as a group of attributes.
