  • Patent number: 4077291
Abstract: A web slitting apparatus for operating on a traveling web of paper or the like to trim the web and/or slit the web into multiple webs having different widths comprises two or more slitter units consisting of coacting pairs of slitter blade elements and slitter band elements located above and below the web. Each of the slitter units is mounted to traverse the web from side-to-side either individually or simultaneously in response to a single driving means which adjusts the position of the slitter units across the web.

  • Patent number: 4045038
Abstract: The chucking device of the present invention comprises a tapered chuck plug with an elongated slot formed in the tapered end thereof into which a pair of core engaging chuck dogs are mounted. The chuck dogs are normally spring biased into a retracted position within the confines of the chuck plug but can be mechanically actuated to project from their slot outside the confines of the chuck plug to firmly grip the insides of a hollow core.

  • Patent number: 3995848
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting, sorting and stacking paper or the like in sheet form is disclosed which includes means for collecting packets of sheets in tandem on a collecting drum prior to discharging the collected sheets to the stacker. The basic components consist of a sheet cutting section, a sheet collecting section, a sheet slow down section and a stacker unit. In the tandem collect mode of operation, the length of the cut sheets must be less than one-half the circumference of the collecting drum and the drive ratio between the sheet cutting section and the sheet collecting section is set at 2:1. Packets of sheets containing an odd number of sheets are collected in tandem on the collecting drum with the use of air showers that are controlled by microswitches in an air shower control unit that is driven by the cutting drum.

  • Patent number: 3982751
Abstract: A paper jogging device is disclosed for stacking sheets of paper or the like into precise alignment directly onto a shipping skid. The device employs a jogger paddle that is flexibly attached to a rigid supporting means, and that is driven so as to be vibrated back and forth over its entire surface. The drive means comprises a plurality of thrust members which are actuated by a pair of synchronized rotating eccentrics employing a novel modified "scotch-yoke" coupling mechanism. The novel features of the jogging device are, (1) the entire surface of the paddle moves back and forth simultaneously, (2) the forward motion terminates at a predetermined fixed position with reference to the supporting means, (3) the acceleration and deceleration of the paddle is a simple harmonic motion requiring minimum driving power, and (4) the entire operation is very quiet.
