Publication number: 20240181671Abstract: Described is a method for manufacturing a composite panel. The method broadly includes the steps of introducing a composite mixture into a press or mould, the composite mixture comprising about 4% to about 30% by weight of a binder that comprises a particularised plastic having a particle size of less than 4 mm, and the remainder being provided by a substrate. The composite mixture is then subjected to pressure sufficient to decrease the thickness of the composite mixture and is heated to about 100° ° C. to about 220° ° C. to form the wood composite panel.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 30, 2022Publication date: June 6, 2024Inventors: Simon David Oakley, Thomas Clarence Hodgson

Publication number: 20230059296Abstract: What is described is an integrated steel mill and a bioreactor configured to produce useful products from the waste stream of the steel mill. A waste gas stack which is connected to the steel mill is connected to a heat exchanger to cool the waste gas from the steel mill. The cooled gas is pressurized using a pressurization apparatus connected to the heat exchanger. The pressurized gas is sent to an oxygen removal apparatus connected to the pressurization apparatus. An oxygen depleted waste stream from the oxygen removal apparatus is passed to a bioreactor (connected to the oxygen removal apparatus) where microorganisms ferment the waste stream to products. Optional apparatus such as scrubbers, valves, buffers, are also disclosed. The products of the fermentation in the bioreactor can be ethanol and or acetate.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 23, 2022Publication date: February 23, 2023Inventors: Sean Dennis Simpson, Christophe Collet, Michael Cockrem, Simon David Oakley, Michael Koepke

Patent number: 10586387Abstract: Methods are disclosed for the generation and editing of layer delineations within three-dimensional tomography scans. Cross sections of a subject are generated and presented to an operator, who has the ability to edit layer delineations within the cross section, or determine parameters used to generate new cross sections. By guiding an operator through a set of displayed cross sections, the methods can allow for a more rapid, efficient, and error-free segmentation of the subject. The cross sections can be nonplanar in shape or planar and non-axis-aligned. The cross sections can be restricted to exclude one or more user-defined regions of the subject, or to include only one or more user-defined regions of the subject. The cross sections can be localized to a point-of-interest. Iterative implementations of the methods can be used to arrive at a segmentation deemed satisfactory by the user.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2017Date of Patent: March 10, 2020Inventors: Daniel Benjamin Russakoff, Jonathan David Oakley
