Abstract: A target to be read by image capture is illuminated with an illumination light pattern by an illuminating light assembly having an enhanced optical coupling efficiency. The assembly includes a hybrid lens component having a first lens portion centered on an optical axis, and a second total internal reflection (TIR) lens portion surrounding the first lens portion about the optical axis. Both lens portions intercept, bend and collimate illumination light emitted from a light emitting diode. The collimated light is incident on a lenslet component having an array of lenslets generally arranged in a plane that is generally perpendicular to the optical axis.

Abstract: A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system may be zoned into one or more zone. The HVAC system may include one or more register vents that may include vent dampers. The HVAC system may be controlled by an HVAC control system including a communications port or block, a controller operatively coupled to the communications block, and a user interface. The controller may receive sensed data received at the communications block from sensors of the HVAC system. Based, at least in part, on the received sensed data, the controller my determine recommended settings for at least one of the manually adjustable register vent dampers and display the recommended settings on the user interface.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for selecting hypervisor platforms that are best suited to process application workloads. Attribute requirements for an application workload, such as high CPU capacity, high power and low cost, are received. A ranking algorithm is then applied to a list of pools of compute nodes to identify an ordered list of pools of compute nodes that are best suited for satisfying the attribute requirements of the application workload by comparing hypervisor characteristics of the pools of compute nodes with the attribute requirements of the application workload. Each pool of compute nodes runs on a particular hypervisor platform which has a unique combination of characteristics that correspond to a combination of a set of attribute requirements (e.g., medium CPU/memory/disk capacity; high CPU and memory performance). In this manner, the hypervisor platforms that are best suited for satisfying the application workload requirements are identified.

The method includes: receiving a request for electronic content; parsing the electronic content to determine a music notation element; translating the music notation; creating a music notation object based on the translation; and rendering the music notation object via a browser application. The system includes: a connection module configured to receive a request for electronic content; a parser configured to parse the electronic content to determine a music notation element; an object module configured to translate the music notation and create a music notation object based on the translation; and a rendering module configured to render the music notation object to be displayed by a browser application.

The method includes forming a semiconductor structure having a first metal layer and a plurality of dielectric layers on top of the first metal layer; creating one or more openings through the plurality of dielectric layers to expose the first metal layer underneath the plurality of dielectric layers; causing the one or more openings to expand downward into the first metal layer and expand horizontally into areas underneath the plurality of dielectric layers; applying a layer of lining material in lining sidewalls of the one or more openings inside the plurality of dielectric layers; and filling the expanded one or more openings with a conductive material.

Abstract: A system, method, and device may include software and hardware which simplify and quicken configuration of the system for testing a device, enhance testing procedures which may be performed, and provide data via which to easily discern a cause and nature of an error which may result during testing. A camera may capture still images of a display screen of a tested device and another camera may capture video images of the tested device and a partner device. A wizard may be used to generate a configuration file based on one previously generated for a similar device. A mount for a tested device may be structured so that: it is suitable for mounting thereon a plurality of differently structured devices; and adjustments in a vertical direction and a horizontal direction in a plane and adjustments of an angle of the device relative to the plane may be easily made.

Abstract: A hair styling device comprises a handle, a heatable elongated member having a longitudinal axis, a distal portion and a proximal portion. The proximal portion of the elongated member is connected to the handle. The device has a hair retention slot at the distal portion of the elongated sized to receive and retain a section of a user's hair. Also described is an attachment for a hair styling device providing such a hair retention slot and a method of using the device and the attachment.

Abstract: A saw blade includes an elongated body having a front end, a rear end, an elongated cutting edge extending between the front edge and the rear edge and defining a longitudinal axis, and a back edge opposite the cutting edge. A first tang is coupled to the rear end of the body and configured to couple the saw blade to a saw. The first tang faces a rearward direction away from the front end of the body. A second tang is defined in an intermediate portion of the body and configured to couple the saw blade to a saw. The second tang also faces the rearward direction. The second tang can be exposed by breaking off a portion of the body.

Abstract: An intermodal shipping container box assembly having front cube, rear cube and middle sections with the front cube and rear cube of variable lengths to provide a container box up to sixty and a half feet in length. The front and rear cubes have modified stacking post and casting block arrangements. The front cube and rear cube may include additional cross bracing. The front cube and middle section include a modified tunnel section for accommodating a vehicle chassis.

Abstract: A system and a method that implement a user interface are provided herein. The system includes a touch interface, a gesture sensor and a processing element arranged to generate an interface command that corresponds to a combination of a touch detected by the touch interface and a gesture identified by the gesture sensor, wherein the correspondence determined according to specified rules. The method implements the logic of the aforementioned system.

The sensing membrane comprises an enzyme domain comprising an enzyme, a base polymer, and a hydrophilic polymer which makes up from about 5 wt. % to about 30 wt. % of the enzyme domain.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for operating an electronic device to launch an application. The method includes detecting an event associated with the application and, when an indicator of user presence is detected within a predetermined period of time after the event, launching the application. The method may further include loading the application in the background upon detecting the event if the application has not been loaded, wherein launching the application includes bringing the application to the foreground. The method may further include, when an indicator of user presence is not detected within the predetermined period of time after the event, closing the application loaded in the background.

Abstract: Data flow node validation and provisioning techniques are described. In one or more implementations, a system is described that supports visual design and deployment of data flow pipelines to process streaming data flows. The system may be configured to include nodes and connections between the nodes to represent an arbitrary execution graph of data science algorithms (as algorithm action components) that are used to process the streaming data flows. The system may also support validation techniques to verify that the data flow pipeline may operate as intended. Further, the system may also support implementation and provisioning techniques that involve estimation and adjustment of runtime resource provisioning of a deployed data flow pipeline without preemption or starvation occurring for nodes within the pipeline.

Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, described herein is a system and method for providing security in a multitenant application server environment. In accordance with an embodiment, per-partition security configuration includes: per-partition security realm (including configuration for authentication, authorization, credential mapping, auditing, password validation, certificate validation, and user lockout); SSL configuration, including keys, certificates, and other configuration attributes; and access control for partition and global resources. An administrator can designate one or more partition users as partition administrators, via grant of roles.
