Abstract: A linkage mechanism is disclosed that produces high travel advantage in one phase of linear actuator motion and high mechanical advantage in another phase of linear actuator motion. The linkage mechanism may be powered by a hydraulic actuator system and is capable of producing high preloads and a high amount of travel with minimal actuator motion or force. The linkage mechanism may be used to secure a hatch door to a pressure vessel housing or may be used in any environment involving high pressure differentials, for example.

Abstract: An apparatus, method, and system are provided for capturing one or more images using a portable panoramic imaging device during real-time image collection and communicatively coupling a mobile communication device to the portable panoramic imaging device to provide an interface to the portable panoramic imaging device for facilitating real-time feedback of the portable panoramic imaging device operation. Such analysis and feedback include sending, utilizing the mobile communication device, information based on the one or more captured images to a central service system for feedback analysis, and receiving, utilizing the mobile communication device, instructions from the central service system based on the analysis.

Abstract: An electronic device may have electrical components such as input-output devices. An electrical component may be mounted on a flexible printed circuit. The flexible printed circuit may have a bend that forms a flexible printed circuit spring to bias the electrical component in a desired direction. The electronic device may have a display with a display cover layer. In an inactive display area, opaque masking material may be formed on the display cover layer. A light window may be formed in the opaque masking layer. The flexible printed circuit spring may bias the electrical component against the display cover layer in alignment with the light window. An air gap under the electrical component may separate the component from a planar portion of the flexible printed circuit that is overlapped by the electrical component. The electrical component may be a camera, a light sensor, or other device.

Abstract: The invention relates to a portable electronic device, comprising: a housing comprising at least one hole; and at least two directional microphones mounted in the housing and placed coincidentally for stereo sound pickup, each one of the microphones defining a main sound axis and each one of the two directional microphones defining a direct sound direction and a opposite sound direction which describe opposite directions of the main sound axis, wherein the at least one hole is a common hole shared between the at least two directional microphones such that the main sound axis of the at least two directional microphones are pointing through the common hole in different directions.

Abstract: A hair styling device comprises a handle, a heatable elongated member having a longitudinal axis, a distal portion and a proximal portion. The proximal portion of the elongated member is connected to the handle. The device has a hair retention slot at the distal portion of the elongated sized to receive and retain a section of a user's hair. Also described is an attachment for a hair styling device providing such a hair retention slot and a method of using the device and the attachment.

The method includes (i) reading an indicator of whether a last attempted communication with a network device was successful, and (ii) performing discovery of the network device at each time specified by a first schedule in response to the indicator indicating that the last attempted communication with the network device was successful, and at each time specified by a second schedule in response to the indicator indicating that the last attempted communication with the network device was not successful. There is also provided a system that performs the method, and a storage device that contains a program that controls a processor to perform the method.

The method includes obtaining a reference signal from an access point; deriving a rank indication, a codebook subset selection indication and a precoding matrix index based on the obtained reference signal; sending a first feedback message conveying the rank indication and the codebook subset selection indication, and sending a second feedback message conveying the precoding matrix index, to the access point; and receiving, from the access point, data precoded by a matrix derived based on the rank indication, the codebook subset selection indication and the precoding matrix index.

Abstract: A system for containing and managing fluids produced at a work site, such as an oil or gas drilling site, includes one or more fluid containments formed as a basin for collecting and retaining fluids, a berm forming a perimeter of the containments, a layer of sand placed over each basin, a fluid-impermeable membrane placed over the layer of sand, and drainage stone placed over the membrane, filling the basin. A geotextile fabric can be placed over the membrane to help protect the membrane from adverse affects of the drainage stone. A leak detection system can be coupled with the membrane to identify potential leaks in a containment system. One or more catch basins can extend through the basin and the drainage stone filling the basin, to receive fluids. A drainage system is placed in fluid communication with the catch basins to drain fluids from a containment.

Abstract: Methods and compositions are provided for preventing or reversing loss of the therapeutic effect of a drug, where the loss is associated with the repeated administration of the drug to a patient. The method includes administering to the patient a dopamine receptor agonist or partial agonist or a drug that increases the extracellular level of dopamine by enhancing release of dopamine, decreasing the removal of dopamine from the extracellular space, enhancing the synthesis of dopamine within the brain, or decreasing metabolic degradation of dopamine; and also administering to the patient an opioid receptor antagonist in an ultra-low dose amount, wherein the ultra-low dose amount is effective to prevent or reverse loss of therapeutic effects associated with the repeated administration of the drug to the patient. The methods are useful for various treatments, including treating Parkinson's Disease, Restless Leg Syndrome, depression, schizophrenia, psychostimulant drug abuse, or attention deficit disorder.

The method comprises receiving relationship data indicating a relationship between the retail fuel site and a competitor retail fuel site and receiving fuel price data for the competitor retail fuel site. The fuel price data for the competitor retail fuel site is processed to generate estimated fuel price data for the competitor retail fuel site and the fuel price data for the retail fuel site is generated based upon the relationship data and the estimated fuel price data.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a motor vehicle lock for a motor vehicle door arrangement, wherein a pivotable catch and an inlet mouth for a lock striker are provided, wherein the catch can be brought into at least one closed position and into at least one open position, wherein the catch as such in its closed position may hold the lock striker by a holding engagement between the catch and the lock striker and in its open position may release the lock striker, wherein during a closing cycle the lock striker comes into an actuating engagement with the motor vehicle lock such that the catch moves from its open position into the direction of its closed position, preferably into its closed position.

Abstract: In embodiments of the present disclosure improved capabilities are described for increasing the bandwidth in a wireless communication network, where centralized optimization servers with publish-subscribe broker services are utilized in conjunction with a queuing service application that provides packet service continuity when a mobile device moves between different access control nodes of the wireless communication network, and wherein the queuing service application is connected to a publish/subscribe broker network to receive service packets matching the service packets directed to the mobile device, wherein the service application makes the matching service packets available to the mobile device to replace service packets that the mobile device did not receive during a time in which the mobile device is in transition between being connected to any of the access control nodes.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a mount for securely holding an optical fiber in place, for example, on an optical bench or a translation stage. In one embodiment, the mount includes a lower block having a first portion, which has an upward-facing channel formed in the top surface thereof and extending from the front surface to the rear region. The channel forms a groove at its bottom. The mount further includes an upper block disposed over the first portion of the lower block. The upper block has a downward-facing ridge that includes one or more holding surfaces disposed adjacent the groove and extending along the downward-facing ridge. The upper block is held against the first portion of the lower block, such that the one or more holding surfaces are positioned to hold the optical fiber in the groove.

Abstract: Systems and devices are described for measuring tension in a guide wire in a tower service lift for ascending and descending wind turbine generator towers.
