  • Publication number: 20170160779
Abstract: Example implementations relate to backup power communication. For example, a system for backup power communication can include a shared backup power supply coupled to a node, a plurality of loads supported by the node, and a pass-through device to support multi-master communication between the shared backup power supply and the plurality of loads.

  • Patent number: 9568967
Abstract: A power supply system and method are disclosed. The power supply system is to generate a power signal for providing power to a device. The power supply system includes a transmitter to modulate a data signal onto the power signal that is demodulated at the device. The transmitter is further to transmit a separate binary control signal on the power signal to change a state of a digital control parameter associated with the device.

  • Publication number: 20150331440
Abstract: A power converter (14) can include a switching system (18) to convert a direct current (DC) input voltage to an output voltage based on a switching signal having a duty-cycle. A controller (16) can set the duty-cycle of the switching signal, depending on the DC input voltage, to one of a substantially constant value, such that the output voltage follows the DC input voltage in a normal mode, and a value that varies inversely with respect to the DC input voltage, such that the output voltage is substantially constant in another mode.

  • Patent number: 8645726
Abstract: Method and system for load sharing in a multiple power supply system. At least some of the illustrative embodiments are power supply units including a switching circuit, a coarse adjustment circuit coupled to the switching circuit (the coarse adjustment circuit configured to send an internal command to the switching circuit to modify a pulse width modulated signal that controls output current of the power supply unit), and a communication port coupled to the switching circuit. The power supply unit configured to receive from an external device over the communication port an external command to modify the pulse width modulated signal of the switching circuit. The power supply unit is also configured to modify the output current, the amount of modification based on the external command, and the internal command from the coarse adjustment circuit.

  • Patent number: 8446044
Abstract: A system is provided for powering electronic system modules in an equipment rack. A circuit breaker is mounted to the rack and configured to receive a rack AC power feed. An AC-DC converter module is mounted to the rack and configured to receive the rack AC power feed from the circuit breaker and to convert it to a first DC voltage at an output. A set of switching DC-DC output converters is provided. Each is disposed physically proximate to or within one of the electronic system modules and is configured to convert the first DC voltage to a second DC voltage suitable for consumption by the proximate electronic system module. A bus is configured to distribute the first DC voltage from the output to each of the switching DC-DC output converters.

  • Publication number: 20100277000
Abstract: Plural electric power supplies are connected in parallel to an output bus. The plural supplies include a primary power supply and a redundant switching power supply. The primary power supply is configured to provide output current to a load when the primary power supply is operating normally. The redundant supply is configured to remain online while not providing output current to the load when the primary power supply is operating normally, but to begin providing output current to the load when the primary power supply is not operating normally.
