  • Patent number: 5794488
Abstract: A motion transmitting remote control assembly (10) comprising a drive wheel (20) having a plurality of gear teeth (18) and rotatably supported by a drive wheel housing (12) and a driven wheel (16) having a plurality of gear teeth (18) and rotatably supported by a driven wheel housing (14) which is spaced from the drive wheel housing (12). A motion transmitting core element (30), comprising a flexible cable (31) having first and second ends (32 and 34) and a wire (36) wrapped helically about the cable (31) in spaced convolutions, is entrained about the wheels (16 and 20) and is in meshing engagement with the gear teeth (18) for transmitting rotational movement between the wheels (16 and 20). A connector interconnects the first and second ends (32 and 34) of the core element (30) for maintaining the core element (30) entrained about the wheels (16 and 20) regardless of the orientation of the core element (30) as the core element (30) passes through the housings (12 and 14).

  • Patent number: 5381706
Abstract: A remote control assembly (10) of the type for translating rotational motion from a drive wheel (12) enclosed in a drive wheel housing (27) to a driven wheel (16) enclosed in a driven wheel housing (28) by means of a core element (18) entrained around both wheels (12,16) in a closed all-tension system is disclosed. The assembly (10) includes first and second rigid end members (24,26) attached to respective end portions (20,22) of the core element (18). The assembly is characterized by a connector (38) for interconnecting the rigid end members (24,26) and defining a first plurality of parallel pivot axes (42) and a second plurality of parallel pivot axes (45) perpendicular to said first plurality of parallel pivot axes (42) about which said end members (24,26) pivot.

  • Patent number: 4893582
Abstract: A deck box valve operator and position indicator assembly characterized by a sprocket (66) supported by the housing (18) on a plateau (70) adjacent the spindle means (46) and having a plurality of radial forked (74) arms (72) with arcuate peripheries (76) extending between adjacent arms to extend about the circular circumference (78) of the spindle means (46). The spindle means (46) has a concaved recess (80) interrupting its circular circumference in an annular groove extending above the spindle means (46) for receiving the arms (72) of the sprocket (66). A gear train interconnects the sprocket (46) and an indicator ring (62) rotatably disposed in the housing for establishing a ratio between the number of revolutions of the spindle means (46) and the ring indicator (62) means whereby the ring (62) indicates the position of a valve means (12) between open and shut.

  • Patent number: 4882971
Abstract: A transporter for storing and feeding linkless rounds of ammunition, including live rounds as well as spent cartridge casings, has a generally cylindrical drum frame assembly with longitudinal rails that retain the rounds in rows, the rounds facing radially inwardly toward an axis of the drum. The drum rotates slowly and continuously during operation, bringing the rows of rounds into the area of an internal conveyor for removing rounds from one row while preferably returning spent cartridge casings to another row, proceeding row by row around the drum. The internal conveyor is preferably parallel to the axis of the drum and parallel to the rails, being mounted at least on one end of the drum by a radial arm. Drive and gearing means slowly advance the radial arm in synchronism with rotation of the drum during processing of a given row of rounds, and angularly index the internal conveyor stepwise to a next row upon completion.

  • Patent number: 4881447
Abstract: A replenisher for an ammunition storage drum has a housing with a main sprocket assembly rotatably disposed therein, with receptacles around a periphery for individual rounds of ammunition. At least one inlet accepts separate (linkless) rounds and places them in the receptacles. The inlet includes a hopper for loose rounds oriented in either of two opposite directions, which rounds are separated by orientation using wire guides engaging extractor flanges of the rounds and feeding the rounds. Converging helices re-entrain the rounds in single file, leading to a feed gear and sprocket assembly engaging the main sprocket assembly. At least one outlet from the main sprocket assembly has an external configuration dimensioned to receive an interface adapter which also mates with a gun magazine. The ammunition storage drum interchangeably connects by means of a power-transmitting conveyor to the replenisher or to the gun magazine.
