Abstract: Water-in-hydrocarbon emulsions, preferably comprising a fluorinated or perfluorinated hydrocarbon continuous phase, a discontinuous aqueous phase, and a surfactant or mixture of surfactants. The emulsions contain pharmacologically active agents, such as endothelin receptor antagonists, and are particularly suitable for pulmonary drug delivery.
