  • Patent number: 10047653
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for regenerating exhaust-gas aftertreatment systems capable of storing nitrogen oxides in lean exhaust gas, and in rich exhaust gas of reducing nitrogen oxides to nitrogen. The invention is used in exhaust-gas aftertreatment systems which consist of at least one NOx storage catalyst arranged near the engine and at least one NOx storage catalyst located in the underbody of the vehicle and are intended to clean the exhaust gas of spark-ignition engines predominantly run on a lean mixture.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 24, 2015
Date of Patent: August 14, 2018
Assignee: UMICORE AG & CO. KG

  • Patent number: 8087691
Abstract: A steering wheel unit for a motor vehicle. The steering wheel unit has a steering wheel and an airbag module (30) located in the hub area of the steering wheel. This airbag module forms a housing (32), an airbag (52) folded into the housing, and a gas generator (54). The airbag module can be pushed down against the force of at least one spring element to activate a horn, whereby positioning means are present which define the position of the airbag module in relation to the steering wheel. In order to achieve a high degree of operational reliability and a very exact positioning of the airbag module in the steering wheel, at least one retaining means (28;38,68) is present which acts between the airbag module and the steering wheel (28;38,68). This retaining means is ineffective in the absence of outer forces and when the airbag module (30) is pressed down to activate a horn.

  • Patent number: 7823908
Abstract: An airbag module assembly is provided which may be used with a steering wheel unit that controls the gap between a driver airbag cover and adjacent steering wheel features. The airbag module assembly includes an airbag housing for enclosing an airbag in communication with an inflator. The airbag module assembly also includes an airbag cover that is coupled to a cover suspension module, which in turn is coupled to the steering wheel unit. The cover suspension module includes a biasing element disposed within a housing and a locating feature extending from the housing.

  • Publication number: 20050155449
Abstract: A steering wheel having a central member and an outer rim connected to the central member is disclosed. The central member is attachable to a steering column of a vehicle. The outer rim has one or more internal chambers. A fluid, such as antifreeze, is disposed within the internal chamber or chambers. The volume, viscosity, and weight of the fluid is selected to dampen vibrations of the steering wheel caused by operation of the vehicle and/or to achieve a desired inertia level in the steering wheel.
