  • Patent number: 10790482
Abstract: An lithium-iodine electrochemical cell and method of making is described. The cell comprises a lithium anode and a cathode of a charge transfer complex which includes iodine and preferably polyvinylpyridine. The iodine-containing cathode is in operative contact with both the anode the cell casing serving as the cathode current collector. Preferably the casing is composed of stainless steel that has been thermally annealed at temperatures of 1,800° F. or less. The annealed stainless steel has a grain size of about ASTM 7 or finer. When the iodine-containing cathode material in liquid form is filled into the casing, it contacts the inner casing surface. The passivation layer that subsequently forms at the contact interface affects cell impedance during discharge. It is desirable to maintain the internal impedance as low as possible.

  • Publication number: 20050099014
Abstract: With the advent of this new and unique spring-loaded slot door latching bar the individuals involved in the operation of removing the contents of the moneyboxes and the like will have at their disposal a device that by inserting and pushing down on the bar handgrip, the latching mechanism will be set and then, by turning the three separate keys the latches will be relocated in place holding the door mechanism. This rapid and safe operation will easily speed up the operation and eliminate a lot of skinned knuckles.

  • Publication number: 20040023109
Abstract: A unitary lid for the casing of an electrochemical energy storage device is described. The lid has a terminal lead ferrule and a fill port formed from a single blank in a machine process. The lid does not require any welding except for securing it to the open end of a casing container. The ferrule supports a terminal lead insulated therefrom by glass. A thermoplastic insulator material encases the ferrule and a portion of the terminal lead extending below the lid. In that manner, the insulator helps prevent contact between the anode and the cathode in the vicinity of the lid.
