  • Patent number: 8299775
Abstract: A method, system and program product for replacing isotropic hole shapes in a wiring layout with non-equiaxial hole shapes that are arranged in a direction of current flow, which increases current flow along the wire's longitudinal axis while decreasing current flow along the wire's transverse axis. One aspect of the invention includes a method including determining a direction of electrical current flow in a portion of a wiring layout; and placing at least one non-equiaxial hole shape within the portion of the wiring layout, wherein the non-equiaxial hole shape is arranged in the direction of electrical current flow. The invention accommodates the limitations of copper CMP within an automated tool without sacrificing the efficiency of a hand-tuned layout. The invention also includes a semiconductor device including at least one non-equiaxial hole shape.

  • Publication number: 20120269952
Abstract: A process for preserving fresh ground meat comprises the steps of a) packaging fresh ground meat in a sealed package; b) placing the packaged fresh ground meat in a pressurization vessel and closing the vessel; c) pressurizing the pressurization vessel containing the packaged fresh ground meat to an elevated pressure of at least about 50,000 psi pressure so that the packaged fresh ground meat is placed under the elevated pressure; d) maintaining the elevated pressure on the packaged fresh ground meat for a time of from about 1 to about 300 seconds and at a temperature of from about 30 to about 45 F; e) then reducing the pressure on the packaged fresh ground meat to ambient pressure; and f) removing the ground meat from the pressurization vessel. Pathogens are effectively killed using this process, providing manufacturing efficiencies and longer product shelf life as compared to other ground meat handling procedures.

  • Patent number: 8287241
Abstract: A gas turbine blade having reduced stresses around a regions where the airfoil training edge joins the platform is disclosed. The lower stresses are achieved due to an undercut region proximate the blade trailing edge being placed in the platform. The undercut region has a compound fillet radius formed from two single and tangent radii where the first radius closer to the airfoil is larger than the second radius such that a ratio of R1/R2 is approximately 2.0 to 2.5.

  • Publication number: 20120076975
Abstract: A composite wood product and its method of manufacture. The wood product comprises aligned, substantially straight wood strands cut from veneer, disposed side by side lengthwise in substantially parallel relationship with adhesive bonding together the strands. The product is produced in a billet having a width in the range of about 3 ft. to 12 ft. and with a thickness in the range of about 1.1 inches to 2 inches. The strand ends are distributed in a specific pattern that approximates maximizing the minimum distance between strand ends. The wide sides of the billet are coated with a dark colored resin. The billet may be sawn lengthwise into sizes used for joists and rafters. Such a sawn product (e.g. 1.5? by 9.25?) has the wide sides a dark resin color and the narrow sawn sides mostly wood colored. The strands are parallel to its length.

  • Patent number: 8142137
Abstract: A gas turbine vane to improve vane performance by addressing known failure mechanisms. A cooling circuit to the trailing edge of a vane airfoil is fed from the outer diameter platform, which prevents failure due to an oxidized and eroded airfoil trailing edge. The gas turbine includes an outer diameter platform, a hollow airfoil and an inner diameter platform with a plurality of cooling tubes extending radially through the airfoil. The cooling tubes are open at the outer diameter end and closed with covers at the inner diameter end. The inner diameter platform is also cooled and includes a meterplate for a portion of the cooling passageway and includes an undercut to improve thermal deflections of the inner diameter platform.
