  • Patent number: 8949783
Abstract: A method of transmitting information to a receiving computer systems includes determining in a processing unit of a computer whether a receiving computer system can receive the information without converting a local format of the information into a canonical format of the information, if it is determined that the receiving computer system cannot receive the information without converting the local format into the canonical format, then converting the local format to the canonical format and transmitting the information to the receiving computer system, and if it is determined that the receiving computer system can receive the information without converting the local format into the canonical format, then transmitting the information to the receiving computer system.

  • Patent number: 6996553
Abstract: A fast policy classification method and system. A policy differentiator can be provided which can include a policy repository configured to store hierarchical policy classification trees. The policy differentiator further can include a hashing module configured to produce integer values for string based selector attributes. In one aspect of the invention, the hashing module can include a longest string hashing function. A policy matching engine can be provided which is configured to locate policy rules in the hierarchical policy classification trees according to the integer values produced for the string based selector attributes. Finally, a policy matching engine interface can be provided through which policy queries and resulting policy decisions of the policy matching engine can be communicated between the policy matching engine and the policy enforcement entity.

  • Patent number: 6516460
Abstract: Methods, systems and articles of manufacture comprising a computer usable medium having computer readable program code means therein are provided for debugging multiple related processes simultaneously and more particularly provided for debugging multiple related processes simultaneously from one instance of a debugger. Being able to debug processes simultaneously in one instance of a debugger gives the user more control in recreating the specific ordering of events that generate a failure in processing. Further, being able to debug processes simultaneously from the same instance of a debugger provides usability gains and convenience by, for example, allowing the user to view information flowing between processes and the states of the processes.

  • Patent number: 6240545
Abstract: A mechanism for setting a conditional breakpoint on all methods called by a specific instance of a class. To set the instance breakpoint, the debugger determines all of the methods that can be applied to the object type or class. In an environment in which full debugging information includes the correspondence between virtual function tables and specific classes, and full class hierarchy information, the methods are located by locating the pointer to the type's virtual function table, and from the virtual function table, locating the specific class in the debugging information. Identifying the specific type permits all of the base classes of the type to be identified in the debugging information, and from the class hierarchy information, all methods for objects of the type can be compiled.
