  • Publication number: 20070173228
Abstract: The details of an apparatus and method of handling simultaneous universal terrestrial radio access network radio resource control procedures which change the security configuration in a universal mobile telecommunications system user equipment are disclosed herein. According to one aspect of the present application, there is provided a user equipment apparatus having a message handler, a sequential processor, a command store, and a security configuration change detector, wherein said message handler is coupled to said command store, is coupled to said sequential processor, and is coupled to said security configuration change detector to save, process, and detect configuration changes in commands respectively, and to determine if there is an existing command at the user equipment, such that the user equipment appears to the UTRAN as though it were processing commands simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20070116053
Abstract: The details of an apparatus and methods of handling simultaneous universal terrestrial radio access network radio resource control procedures with activation times in a universal mobile telecommunications system user equipment are disclosed herein. According to one aspect, the apparatus includes a message handler to receive a received message from the UTRAN, a sequential processor to receive an ongoing command, a command store connected to the message handler to save the received command. The message handler determines if there is an existing command at the user equipment such that the user equipment appears to the UTRAN as though it were processing the select commands simultaneously while actually processing the existing command sequentially.

  • Publication number: 20060211417
Abstract: The details of an apparatus and method of uplink data during cell update in universal mobile telecommunications system user equipment are disclosed herein. According to one aspect of the present application, there is provided a user equipment to send uplink data to a UTRAN during a CELL UPDATE. The apparatus has an uplink data saving RRC with an uplink data store to save the uplink data while the CELL UPDATE procedure is ongoing, and a state machine having a Cell FACH state and/or a Cell DCH state. The uplink data saving RRC sends the saved uplink data to the UTRAN via an UPLINK DIRECT TRANSFER when the CELL UPDATE procedure has completed and the state machine enters either Cell FACH or Cell DCH state. According to another aspect of the present application, there is provided a method of sending uplink data to a UTRAN during a CELL UPDATE procedure.

  • Publication number: 20050070274
Abstract: The details of an apparatus and method for handling cell update during reconfiguration in universal mobile telecommunications system user equipment are disclosed herein. When a UE receives a Reconfiguration request from a UTRAN, it sets an activation time for execution of the reconfiguration. Where a cell update is required before the reconfiguration has been applied, the UE cancels the reconfiguration and proceeds with the cell update.

  • Publication number: 20050070273
Abstract: The details of an apparatus and method for responding to a cell or URA update confirm message with a correct C-RNTI information element are disclosed herein. When a UE receives a Cell or URA Update Confirm message from a UTRAN, it determines whether a response is required prior to entering the state specified in the message. If a response is required it uses the new C-RNTI element to send the response, if this element is available.

  • Publication number: 20050070253
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing a message in a mobile telecommunications device. The method comprises: receiving a Cell Update Confirm (CUC) message; determining whether the device has an empty C_RNTI variable; when the device has an empty C_RNTI variable, determining whether the CUC message includes a new C_RNTI; when the CUC message includes a new C_RNTI and the CUC message would cause the device to enter a state which requires the UE to respond to the message before entering the state, carrying out at least one further step prior to entering the state.

  • Publication number: 20050068919
Abstract: The details of an apparatus and method for handling cell update during reconfiguration in universal mobile telecommunications system user equipment are disclosed herein. When a UE receives a Reconfiguration request from a UTRAN, it sets an activation time for execution of the reconfiguration. Where a cell update is required when the reconfiguration has not yet been applied, the UE delays the execution of the cell update procedure until after the reconfiguration has been applied. If the trigger which initiated the cell update procedure is no longer relevant, the cell update is unnecessary and may be cancelled.
