  • Publication number: 20070186739
Abstract: A table saw comprising a table including an aperture to receive a portion of a rotatable saw blade extending from below the table and a riving knife extending through the aperture from below the table. The riving knife includes a slot that receives a first pin and the riving knife includes a plurality of recesses. A cam that operatively engages the first pin and is rotatable to cause linear motion of the first pin with respect to the slot such that when the cam is in a first position the riving knife may be retained in a selected position and when the cam is in a second position the riving knife may be movable to another selected position, wherein the rotation of the cam additionally causes movement of a second pin that may be received within one of the plurality of recesses.

  • Publication number: 20070186741
Abstract: An improved riving knife/guard assembly that provides a viewing slot on a guard top plate to allow for sufficient observation of the cutting zone during table saw operations, while providing protection to minimize the likelihood of contact the rotating saw blade during use.

  • Publication number: 20070163408
Abstract: An improved riving knife/guard assembly for a table saw allows the guard to be removed and attached without the use of any tools, provides a clear view of the work zone, blade and workpiece, and is easily adjustable to accommodate different size workpieces and cutting angle. The assembly includes a riving knife extending upward from the table substantially coplanar with the saw blade and a guard that releasably attaches to the riving knife with a rotatable latch with the guard at least partially surrounding the saw blade.

  • Publication number: 20070072686
Abstract: A device for minimizing damage to an electronic article resulting from an overload or jamming of the article that includes a shaft; a driven element carried on the shaft; a clutch plate carried on the shaft; and a torsion spring surrounding a portion of the shaft and having a first end connected to the clutch plate and a second end connected to the driven element such that the spring is windable by a first torque that is greater than a second torque and wherein the second torque produces an operating rotation of the driven element.

  • Publication number: 20060074512
Abstract: A feed rate control system may provide feedback to the power tool operator that may assist the operator to obtain consistently high quality output. The feed rate control system may also automatically output a feed rate control signal, optionally influenced by the operating mode of the power tool. In a planer, for example, the feed rate control system may execute different control techniques depending on whether the planer is in ‘finish’ mode or ‘dimension’ mode.

  • Publication number: 20050217445
Abstract: A table saw such as a chop saw, a miter saw, compound miter saw or a sliding compound miter saw that is provided with a laser arbor alignment system. An opaque shield or transparent shield having an opaque mask blocks the laser beam from being projected into a range of normal operator eye positions. One or more openings in the shield or opaque mask provide a sight line on a workpiece initially. As the saw is moved into engagement with the workpiece, the shield is pivoted away from the workpiece and a solid laser line is projected on the workpiece.

  • Publication number: 20050003748
Abstract: An orbital sander is provided having a number of novel features including a high speed permanent magnet DC motor having a relatively flat rpm versus torque curve. The sander includes an AC to DC power supply, a remotely located on/off switch operated by a switch actuator bar extending transversely through the housing enabling the operator to actuate the on/off switch by alternatively pushing opposed ends of the actuator bar. The orbital sander further includes a fan having non-uniformly spaced blades, eliminating the need for a conventional counterweight, and a dust outlet adapted to be alternatively connected to a dust canister or alternate size collector vacuum hoses.
