  • Publication number: 20240112419
Abstract: In one implementation, a method for dynamically determining presentation and transitional regions for content delivery. The method includes obtaining a first set of characteristics associated with a physical environment; and detecting a request to cause presentation of virtual content. In response to detecting the request, the method also includes obtaining a second set of characteristics associated with the virtual content; generating a presentation region for the virtual content based at least in part on the first and second sets of characteristics; and generating a transitional region provided to at least partially surround the presentation region based at least in part on the first and second sets of characteristics. The method further includes concurrently presenting the virtual content within the presentation region and the transitional region at least partially surrounding the presentation region.

  • Publication number: 20240068070
Abstract: An oxy-fuel combustion gas generator combusts fuel with oxygen to produce high temperature steam and carbon dioxide. A lithium brine is introduced into the gas generator to cause at least a portion of the water within the lithium brine to be converted into steam. A steam separator downstream from the gas generator separates steam and carbon dioxide from a resulting higher concentration lithium brine. This higher concentration lithium brine can then be beneficially utilized. Furthermore, the steam and CO2 from the steam separator can be utilized to generate power, such as by a turbine, can supply CO2 for use within the lithium extraction plant or within a geological formation for sequestration away from the atmosphere and/or for enhanced recovery of lithium brine from the geological structure.

  • Patent number: 7992067
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for coding a digital data string to represent a sequence of acoustic frequencies to be transmitted as an acoustic signal by a genuine acoustic authentication device; related to providing for improving the rate of successfully detecting a valid data string contained in the acoustic signal transmitted by the device. Each of a plurality of groups of bits of the data string are coded to represent a respective frequency value set of one or more acoustic frequencies to be transmitted acoustically to represent the respective group of bits. The number of acoustic frequencies in a frequency value set is less than the number of bits in the respective group of bits that the frequency value set represents. For each of the plurality of groups of bits of the data string, the respective frequency value set is selected according to a predetermined frequency assignation pattern that provides for probabilistic transition coding used for error correction of the acoustic signal.

  • Publication number: 20020060249
Abstract: The authentication device, for example a card, is powered by a battery and is provided with an internal clock to control operations of its microcontroller. The device comprises a contact interface, such as a ISO 7816 interface, through which data is transmitted to a reader. The device may also comprise one or more additional interfaces, in particular an acoustic interface.

  • Publication number: 20020047049
Abstract: The authentication device, for example a card, is provided with the capability of generating its own unique personalization data. Each device, prior to the personalization phase, is advantageously identical to any other device of a same batch. The device generates a random internal number using one or more different methods and in such a way that the internal number cannot be predicated and it is statistically improbable another device has an identical internal number. Segments of the random internal number are used to form the personalization data, for instance a serial number and key number. The random internal number can also be inserted in a mathematical algorithm, for example a one-way hashing function, to generate another number or other numbers to be used as the personalization data. Once generated, the personalization data are recorded in a memory.

  • Publication number: 20020043566
Abstract: The transaction card and method are used for securing a transaction conducted by mean of a credit card, a debit card, a security card or any other card including information to be read by a magnetic card reader. The card is provided with a counter which increments by 1 or any other number each time the card is activated. This counter value is used with a key string in a cryptographic algorithm to produce a signature. The resulting data stream is then transmitted to a computer. The computer may be one of the servers of a bank, a credit card provider, a security department, etc. Once the data stream is received, the computer finds the record of the card or cardholder using the identification number or any other number, then determines with the signature if the transaction is legitimate or not. The counter value is also verified.

  • Patent number: 5408159
Abstract: A pair of E-shaped shunts are disposed near the top and bottom, respectively, of a deflection yoke for reducing inner and outer horizontal trap errors. A central portion of the E-shaped shunt reduces a ratio between magnitudes of inner and outer E-W pincushion raster distortions.
