  • Patent number: 7671880
Abstract: In one embodiment, a disk labeling system is configured to use calibration indicia to produce calibration data. A disk is then marked using a laser in a first position. The laser is then deflected from the first position into a second position, by applying an input according to the calibration data. The disk is then marked using the laser in the second position.

  • Patent number: 7443410
Abstract: A method for labeling an optically writable label side of an optical disc of one embodiment of the invention is disclosed which includes at least one of the following. First, the method may multiply pass over a track of the optically writable label side of the optical disc with an optical marking mechanism, such that the optical marking mechanism writes to the track during each pass. Second, the method may advance the optical marking mechanism from the track to a next track of the optically writable label side of the optical disc, such that a starting position on the track is radially non-collinear with a starting position on the next track.

  • Patent number: 7434232
Abstract: A system and method are provided which enable a user of a computer application without administrator privileges to write to a drive without using a third party driver and without using a customized driver acting in conjunction with an IDE bus. The system includes a driver programming interface in communication with the application, a service proxy in communication with the driver interface, a service with administrator privileges in communication with the service proxy, a driver in communication with the service with administrator privileges, and a drive in communication with the driver.

  • Patent number: 7283148
Abstract: A method for labeling an optically writable label side of an optical disc of an embodiment of the invention rotates the optical disc such that an optical marking mechanism passes adjacent to a track of the optically writable label side of the optical disc a number of times greater than one. During each pass adjacent to the track by the optical marking mechanism, the optical marking mechanism writes a mark at each desired position of a plurality of positions. Each desired position of the plurality of positions has a same number of marks written thereto by the optical marking mechanism equal to the number of times the optical marking mechanism passes adjacent to the track.

  • Patent number: 7269111
Abstract: A method of an embodiment of the invention rotates an optical disc having an optically writable label side. The optical disc is radially scanned with a laser incident to the optically writable label side, from a first edge of the optical disc to a second edge of the optical disc. While the laser is radially scanned from the first edge to the second edge of the optical disc, a first radius at which markings have not been written to the optically writable label side of the optical disc, next to a second radius at which markings have been written to the optically writable label side of the optical disc, is detected.

  • Patent number: 7244580
Abstract: The present invention relates to identification of polypeptides useful for generating antibodies specific for non-human IgE, particularly equine IgE. The invention, therefore, also relates to antibodies that specifically bind to IgE and methods to detect IgE using the antibodies. The invention also provides a kit for detection of IgE.

  • Patent number: 7188348
Abstract: An optical pickup unit (OPU) includes a moveable structure that is moved by a voice coil motor component in response to an input signal. The moveable structure includes a pattern that is moved corresponding to the input signal. An encoder reads the pattern to generate an output signal that corresponds to pattern movement as the input signal is applied over a period of time. A controller calculates a calibration factor relating the pattern movement to the input signal.

  • Publication number: 20060142874
Abstract: A system for controlling multiple processors, each of which controls a group of hardware devices. Each processor is equipped with storage space for a database. A single, shared, database circulates among the processors, and only a single processor receives the database at any given time. All processors are idle, except when the database arrives. Upon arrival, the receiving processor (1) reads data it needs from the database, (2) uses that data as input, (3) performs computation using the input, (4) produces output which is used to both (a) control its hardware and (b) add data to the database, (5) transfers the modified database to the next processor, and (6) becomes inactive. This sequence is repeated by all processors.
