  • Patent number: 9434578
Abstract: An elevator system includes guide rail mounted machine and a sheave assembly that accommodates a guide rail within a hoistway. The inventive sheave assembly includes individual sheave portions rotatable along a common axis. At least two of the sheave portions are spaced apart along the shaft and a portion of the guide rail extends toward the axis beyond a plane formed tangent to the outer diameter of the sheave portions.

  • Patent number: 8365870
Abstract: An elevator car includes a foldable handrail mounted on top of the car. Safety switches are associated with the foldable handrail including a first safety switch and a second safety switch. The first safety switch is closed only when the handrail is folded in a fully retracted position. The second safety switch is closed when the handrail is unfolded in a fully deployed position. A safety chain is associated with the first and second safety switches for supplying power to an elevator drive system in a normal operation or an inspection operation depending on the state of the first and second safety switches.

  • Publication number: 20120175193
Abstract: The elevator has a car movable vertically within a shaft between lower and upper end positions and a drive system coupled to a traction system for controlling movement of the car. A limit switch which is open when the car is in a selected distance range from one of the end positions. The limit switch forms part of a power line supplying power to the drive system for controlling movement of the car in a direction towards that end position in an inspection operation. Thus movement of the car is prevented only in that direction when the car is in the selected distance range in an inspection operation.

  • Publication number: 20100213014
Abstract: The invention relates to a set of landing doors (19) and elevator car doors (21) as a replacement for existing swing doors without requiring any substantial masonry work, any change in the structure of the car or in the displacement of the latter, the space between the car frame (13) and the landing access opening frame (3) being of 125 mm at the most, characterized in that it comprises a set of landing doors (19) positioned just behind the landing access opening frame (3) and provided with a set of one panel and two telescopic panels with a central opening, the total thickness of which is reduced, and a set of car doors (21) mounted on the elevator car, with a configuration analogous to the set of landing doors (19) and intended to come face-to-face with the latter, within the space (9?), at each building storey landing, in said space of 125 mm between the car frame (13) and the landing access opening frame (3).

  • Patent number: 7650971
Abstract: The invention relates to a safety lock (1) for an elevator landing door detecting intrusion of a person in the shaft through the landing door, activating a bistable switch (21) through its spindle lever (11) putting the elevator into safe operation when the landing door is opened by turning the corresponding key, it being impossible to reset the switch (21) manually from the inside of the shaft, which comprises a device (17) fixing the lock in the open position with the door open, that is released when the door is closed such that the switch (21) can be reset by turning the lock (1) in the closing direction of the door in which the key is turned in the opposite direction to the opening direction, the switch (21) being reset mechanically by a mechanical means connected to the spindle lever (11).
