  • Publication number: 20070252876
Abstract: A solid ink stick melting apparatus is incorporated in a phase change printer to provide melted ink under pressure to a print head. The solid ink stick melting apparatus includes an ink stick melt chamber having an enclosure with at least one heated wall, an inlet for receiving an ink stick, and an outlet for melted ink flow from the enclosure, and a seal mounted proximate the inlet to engage an ink stick passing through the seal so that the seal and the ink stick form a barrier and retain melted ink within the enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20070118730
Abstract: A cryptographically signed filesystem provides a central database resident on a server that contains database objects. The server creates startup software to be installed in a client system's read only memory. The startup software contains a hash value for a second stage loader. The server also creates software for a bootstrap loader object which typically contains the operating system for a client system and also the bootstrap loader's hash value and a digital signature that is unique to the server. The startup software and objects created by the server are initially installed on a client device at the time of manufacture. The server can update a client's bootstrap loader and root filesystem at any time through the transmission of slices.

  • Patent number: 7216235
Abstract: An authentication system for securing information within a disk drive to be read and written to only by a specific host computer such that it is difficult or impossible to access the drive by any system other than a designated host is disclosed. While the invention is similar in intent to a password scheme, it significantly more secure. The invention thus provides a secure environment for important information stored within a disk drive. The information can only be accessed by a host if the host can respond to random challenges asked by the disk drive. The host's responses are generated using a cryptography chip processing a specific algorithm. This technique allows the disk drive and the host to communicate using a coded security system where attempts to break the code and choose the correct password take longer to learn than the useful life of the disk drive itself.

  • Publication number: 20070078109
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a water-soluble chelated complex of a co-polymer of N-acetylglucosamine-glucosamine pyrithione sale (AGP). This composition is characterized by a highly viscose texture with excellent surface properties and extremely long acting antimicrobial activity. AGP's antimicrobial activity against acne bacteria has been found superior to the benzyl peroxide the leading acne medication. In addition, AGP has been proven to be effective against many pathogenic yeast. AGP has the potential to be useful as a long acting broad-spectrum antimicrobial composition in a variety of dermatological medicaments and cosmetics.
