  • Patent number: 11904150
Abstract: A safety needle device for connection to a medical connector, including threaded connections. The safety needle comprises a collar configured to interdigitate with a conventional needle hub, the collar having attachment points for a hinged cap, the hinged cap being in a two-piece configuration. In further embodiments, the safety needle device comprises a removable hard needle cover configured to cover needle cannula and a distal portion of a needle hub. The hard needle enclosure further comprises a cap configured to interdigitate with the needle cover and cover a proximal portion of the needle hub. The cap and at least a portion of the needle cover are covered by a removable sleeve which holds the cap and the needle cover together. Even further embodiments comprise a needle hub, a needle cover, an adapter and a cap, the adapter configured to attach to a conventional needle cap.

  • Publication number: 20220331527
Abstract: A pen needle (30) for a delivery device includes a hub (32) supporting a needle (54) and a distal needle shield (70) that can retract to expose the needle during injection and return to the extended position after use and lock in the extended position to cover the needle. A proximal needle shield (0.102) moves from a retracted position to an extended position with respect to the hub to shield or cover a proximal end of the needle when the needle hub is separated from the delivery device. A spring (130) extends between the distal needle shield and the proximal needle shield to bias each needle shield to the respective extended position. The distal needle shield (70) is coupled to the proximal needle shield (102) in an initial position to retain the spring (130) in a compressed state. The distal needle shield (70) is depressed to disengage the distal needle shield from the proximal needle shield (102) so that the spring expands to an extended state and moves the shields to the extended positions.

  • Publication number: 20220296821
Abstract: A pen needle is disclosed for coupling to a delivery device and piercing a septum on the delivery device. The pen needle includes a collar having a side wall, an open proximal end, and a distal end having a coupling member, a needle hub rotatable independently of the collar, where the proximal end of the needle hub has a coupling member coupled to the distal end of the collar. The collar rotates independently from the needle hub so that the collar screws onto the threaded end of the delivery device while the needle hub does not rotate and the needles advance to pierce a septum of the delivery device without rotating the hub and the needles.

  • Publication number: 20220241516
Abstract: A pen needle (10) includes a hub (12) supporting a needle (30), an inner shield (14) enclosing the distal end of the needle, and an outer cover (16). The outer surface of the hub can include ribs (66) that cooperate with ribs (72) on the inner surface of the outer cover to assist in attaching the pen needle to a delivery device while preventing over torqueing or over tightening. In one embodiment, the inner shield (14) has a dimension to attach to the distal end of the hub (12) after use to enclose the proximal, non-patent end of the needle. In another embodiment, the outer cover (16) includes a closure member that can be removed during use and re-attached after use to cover the proximal end of the needle.

  • Publication number: 20210315776
Abstract: A syringe assembly (10, 80, 132, 192) includes a syringe barrel (12, 86, 134, 194) having a proximal end and a distal end, a needle (18, 89, 140, 200) coupled to the distal end of the syringe barrel, a body (22, 142, 202) coupled to the syringe barrel, and movable shield (24, 82, 164, 222) for moving in an axial direction between a first position where the needle is exposed and a second position covering at least a portion of the needle. The body (22, 142, 202) is configured for enabling the shield (24, 82, 164, 222) to move to the second position and retain the shield in the second position. The shield (24, 82, 164, 222) can slide axially, and rotate relative to the body or slide transversely relative to the body when the shield is in the second position.
