Patent number: 11507065Abstract: The systems and methods described provide improved process control operating range and capabilities and integrate process control monitoring and management with broader process automation (PA) systems process management, extending the real-time operation and control of a process control system to process handling of a PA system, and extending PA-style process management by adding real-time process controls and monitoring, and adding new functionality by permitting management of these processes to externally defined completion goals. This combination provides new functionality in dynamically determined process flexibility, extended operating range and extended process recipe definition capabilities for process control systems using this technology, and provides improved error recovery and exception handling of traditional PA systems.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2021Date of Patent: November 22, 2022Assignee: 6th Street, Inc.Inventors: David Potts, Brian Hamilton

Patent number: 10902742Abstract: A method and apparatus for teaching and/or evaluating driving behavior of a driver of an autonomous-capable vehicle. The vehicle is operated in a manual-control mode wherein a driver has manual control, and a communication device (audio speaker, visual display, etc.) issues an instruction to the driver to perform a task. As the driver is attempting to perform the task, a sensor monitors the driver's behavior. A driver instruction module (that interfaces with the vehicle's autonomous driving module) determines a deviation between the driver's behavior and a desired behavior to perform the task. If the deviation exceeds a permissible amount, the vehicle is placed under autonomous control (control is taken away from the driver) and the task is completed in a manner that is in accordance with the desired behavior.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2017Date of Patent: January 26, 2021Assignee: Ford Motor CompanyInventors: Meghashree Kowshika Ramachandra, Andreas Ortseifen, Yuliya Aksyutina, Julian David Pott

Patent number: 10773711Abstract: A hybrid electric vehicle having an internal combustion engine and an electrical machine operable as a traction motor with a manual transmission arranged between the engine and the driving wheels and a clutch between the engine and the transmission generates an acoustic notification signal to indicate a gear shift that would result in either an excessive or insufficient engine speed. A different acoustic tone may be provided for a gear shift that would result in excessive engine speed than a gear shift that would result in insufficient engine speed. The acoustic notification signal may be a simulated engine noise.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2019Date of Patent: September 15, 2020Assignee: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Markus Espig, Matthew Allen Schneider, Tobias Emig, Julian David Pott, Markus Wilmes

Patent number: 7887383Abstract: A safety seat for a child for use proximate a body of water is disclosed. The safety seat may be fixed with a vehicle, such as a boat, or used independently on a ground surface. A seat is adapted to hold the child in a seated position therein. A base engagement is fixed with a lower side of the seat and comprises a projection having therein a buoyant material in a top portion thereof. The base engagement further includes a weighted material, such as metal weights or the like, in a bottom portion thereof. A base has an open top end and is adapted to slidably receive the projection of the base engagement.
