Patent number: 9995405Abstract: An insert is rotatable relative to a housing to transition the stopcock between different operational states with various different ports being open or closed. The insert includes a manifold shaft which resides within a hollow core of a hub of the housing. The openings are brought into and out of alignment with ports in the housing to cause the stopcock to transition between operational states with two or more of the ports being open or all of the ports being closed. The manifold shaft and hollow core include either detent slots or detent ribs thereon which coact together to cause the ribs to reside within the slots when the insert is rotated to one of the desired operational states, and for the ribs and slots to be out of alignment when outside of one of the desired operational states. The stopcock thus tends to snap into desired operational states.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2016Date of Patent: June 12, 2018Inventor: David R. Duncan

Patent number: 9895487Abstract: An assembly is provided which includes an infusion device coupled to a standard medication syringe. The medication syringe may be coupled to a stopcock valve having multiple ports and to which syringes, vial adapters, infusion tubing, and multiple other items may be coupled. The infusion device includes a source of power based on a resistance force such as vacuum, spring or gas power. The infusion device converts the resistance based force to usable work in the form of a force applicator. The force applicator includes a driver section on one section of a reciprocating arm and an attachment to the power source on another section of the arm. The driver is pulled outward (excursion) to increase the size of the chamber, creating a force that tends to return the driver back inward, causing incursion. The driver can be attached removably to the syringe plunger to induce the infusion process.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2012Date of Patent: February 20, 2018Inventor: David R. Duncan

Patent number: 9500287Abstract: A valve is provided with multiple ports joining multiple fluid conduits leading between fluid sources and fluid destinations. A central hub manifold or other control element resides within a body supporting the ports, and can rotate relative to the valve body. Fluid flow paths within the central hub or other control element are selectively aligned or not aligned with the ports. The valve indicates which ports are open or closed by providing unique marks adjacent the ports corresponding with being open or closed. When the positive marks are visible, such as through windows in a rotating structure fixed to the central hub or other control element, the corresponding ports are open. When the negative marks are visible, such as through other windows in the rotating structure, the corresponding ports are closed.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2014Date of Patent: November 22, 2016Inventor: David R. Duncan
