Abstract: A latch mechanism for a folding table in which the table includes stowable legs, a modesty panel and a horizontal table top supported by the legs. The latch mechanism latches the legs of the table into an upright position. The latch mechanism includes a pin rigidly fastened to a leg of the table such that the tip of the pin projects away from the leg. A cantilever spring plate defining a bore sized to receive at least a portion of the tip of the pin therethrough is attached to the modesty panel of the table. The bore of the spring plate aligns with the pin when the table is opened to its upright position. The cantilever spring plate includes a bend which resiliently biases the spring plate away from the modesty panel. The pin is freed from the bore allowing the legs of the table to move to their stowed position when the spring plate is moved toward the modesty panel against the biasing action of the cantilever spring plate.

Abstract: An apparatus for interconnecting table tops and table leaves comprises a number of complementary bracket assemblies and thumbscrew fasteners mounted to juxtaposed table tops or leaves. The bracket assemblies include a bracket having a pivot end, a connection end, and a first slot defining an arcuate opening between the two ends. The bracket is pivotably connected at its pivot end to a first table top. A fastener extending through the first slot and fastened to the table top limits the degree of pivoting of the bracket between a first position in which the bracket projects beyond the edge of the first table top and a second position in which the bracket is retracted completely beneath the first table top. A second slot is defined at the connection end of the bracket for engaging one of the thumbscrew fasteners in the second table top. In one embodiment, the second slot provides for linear engagement, requiring extension of the bracket and then physical movement of the table tops together.

Abstract: A folding table includes a tabletop and a number of legs operable between a folded and an extended position. A folding table leg apparatus associated with each of the legs comprises a top plate mounted to the tabletop, the top plate having a pair of side flanges. Each of the side flanges has a height greater than the effective diameter of one leg. The flanges and the top plate define an envelope within which the leg is contained in its folded position and the folding apparatus itself is fully contained within the envelope when the leg is in its folded position. The folding table leg apparatus includes a pair of brace links straddling the leg, each of the pair of brake links being pivotably mounted at a first end to the top plate and pivotably connected at a second end to diametrically opposite portions of the leg, such that the brace links provide support for the leg in its extended position.

Abstract: A table base construction includes a plurality of leg assemblies, a central attachment assembly integrating each of the leg assemblies, a vertical standard assembly mounted on the central attachment assembly, and a support plate assembly mounted on the vertical standard assembly. The leg assemblies include a plurality of elongated strips that are interconnected by machine screws in an overlayed construction.The central attachment assembly centrally connects each of the leg at its inner end in juxtaposed radial relation. The central attachment assembly includes a column washer and an attachment washer. The legs are affixed at their inner ends to the attachment washer by attachment screws extending through the aligned bores in the leg assemblies and the column washer and engaged in threaded bores in the attachment washer. When the leg assemblies are so connected, free edges at the inner ends of the leg assemblies form a non-circular opening.

Abstract: A cap or topper structure for the bed of a truck characterized by a base or main section and a rear section hingedly connected together at a pivot axis disposed along the upper horizontal surface of the cap or topper. The preceding arrangement serves, when in an operative position, i.e. when the rear section is moved upwardly or angled with respect to the truck bed, to provide ready access to the space on the truck bed covered by the cap or topper.In one invention embodiment, the movable rear section of the cap or topper is hinged closer to the truck cab than in another invention embodiment, the former affording more access to the enclosed space, as by standing on the truck bed, while the latter permits easy access by a user standing on the ground adjacent the truck bed. In either instance, conventional components are employed for elevating and maintaining the movable rear section of the cap or topper at the aforesaid operative position for access purposes.
