  • Patent number: 11955845
Abstract: An axial flux motor incorporates a rotor having a plurality of pockets receiving magnet assemblies. A retention device is engaged from an inactive surface of at least one magnet assembly to one or more structural elements surrounding an associate one of the plurality of pockets in the rotor.

  • Patent number: 11923078
Abstract: This document describes medical systems that use artificial intelligence to facilitate autonomous or semi-autonomous medical procedures. For example, this document describes heart/lung machine systems that are used in conjunction with artificial intelligence systems to facilitate autonomous or semi-autonomous open-heart surgery operations.

  • Patent number: 5758351
Abstract: The present invention defines a consistent method and system for enabling components in an information system to invoke operations that may be distributed across multiple computing platforms, through the provision and use of executable operations whose behaviors are determined from information stored and extracted from a Catalog (164) using an Operation Definition Manager (82). The stored information is used by a Surrogate Object Definition Module (96) to define a Surrogate Object Type structure which enables execution of any of the operations described within it. A Surrogate Object Manager (94), along with an Operation Connection Manager (104, 118, 130 or 132), is provided which assists the user in developing applications by providing access to the definition of the input and output arguments of the operations included in the Surrogate Object Type structure (244).

  • Patent number: 5618249
Abstract: An upper body exercise device comprising a base (10) on which two adjustably resistant recoilers (20) are mounted is contained in a waist pouch (30). Two extension members (40) extend outwardly and downwardly from the base (10) and pulleys (50) are attached to the outer ends (44) of the extension members. Cords (60) from the recoilers (20) are threaded through the pulleys (50) and handles (70) are provided at the ends. The extension members (40) displace and direct frictional force created by the recoilers (20), and the pouch (30) makes the device easy to put on and take off. The recoilers (20) preferably provide adjustably resistant force against tension applied to the cords (60) and a slight restoring force sufficient to recoil the cords (600 when tension is released. This avoids safety problems with other mechanisms that provide a restoring force equal to the displacing force.

  • Patent number: 5164503
Abstract: A process is described for the preparation of compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which W is C.sub.1-7 alkyleneX is cis or trans --CH.dbd.CH-- or --CH.sub.2 Ch.sub.2 --Y is a saturated heterocyclic amino group, andR.sup.2 is substituted or unsubstituted phenyl-, thienyl- or naphthyl-alkyl, or cinnamyl, and their salts and solvates. The process comprises hydrolysing a corresponding ester, amide, nitrile or ortho-ester. The starting materials are preferably prepared by reducing the corresponding cyclopentanone and hydrolysis can take place simultaneously with reduction.

  • Patent number: 4189329
Abstract: The method of treating halogen-containing plastic refuse which comprises charging same to a bath for immersion therein, the bath being constituted of an inorganic carbonate, such as from the class consisting of alkali and alkaline earth metals; such bath being in a highly particulate condition. The bath is heated to, and maintained at, the appropriate temperature for effecting thermal decomposition of the plastic but below calcination temperature. Such method includes preventing discharge to the atmosphere of the halogenic material released.
