  • Patent number: 5346755
Abstract: A stain resistant, easily cleanable and flexible plastic coated film comprising a base film and a coating thereon wherein the base film comprises a polyvinyl chloride resin, a polymeric plasticizer, and a member selected from the group consisting of acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer rubber and ethylene-n-butyl acrylate-carbon monoxide polymer and the coating comprises polymethyl methacrylate alone or together with a flexibilizing polymer such as vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer and/or a flexibilizing copolymer of methyl methacrylate. The coated film gives superior oil and stain resistance as compared to the base film or coating alone.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 13, 1994
    Assignee: Borden, Inc.
    Inventor: David R. Morse
  • Patent number: 5191007
Abstract: Polyvinyl chloride compositions as well as flexible sheets and swimming pool liners of such compositions which contain significant quantities of an ultra high molecular weight polyvinyl chloride resin together with a heat stabilizer, plasticizer and optional additives are disclosed. In preferred compositions: the PVC resin is a mixture of high molecular weight and ultra high molecular weight PVC: the heat stabilizer is a mixed zinc-barium-alkyl phosphite stabilizer; and the composition contains 2-hydroxy-4-(2-hydroxyethoxy) benzophenone as an ultraviolet light absorber.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 5, 1991
Date of Patent: March 2, 1993
    Assignee: Borden, Inc.
Inventors: Julian Zelazny, David R. Morse
  • Patent number: 5173144
Abstract: This invention is directed to an enamel paint receptive flexible laminate and its method of manufacture. The laminate is useful for making banners, flags, signs and the like that are decorated with enamel poster paints. The laminates of the present invention comprise a base fabric material, a first film coating of a plasticized polyvinyl chloride and a second coating of thermosetting vinyl acrylic copolymer. The thermosetting vinyl acrylic copolymer promotes increased adhesion and decreased drying time of poster paints and lettering enamel when they are applied to the coating.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 28, 1990
Date of Patent: December 22, 1992
    Assignee: Borden, Inc.
Inventors: Dwight E. Chapman, David R. Morse
