  • Publication number: 20230309260
Abstract: A cold plate assembly for cooling an electronic device includes a manifold, a comb insert, and a plurality of vanes. The manifold is formed to define a cavity therein. The comb insert is located in the cavity and formed to include channels for receiving a fluid from cooling passages in the manifold and transfer heat to the fluid. The plurality of vanes are removably coupled with the comb insert and are located in the channels to guide the fluid through channels. The vanes extend between walls that define the channels. Each vane is formed to define a throughhole formed therein to direct the fluid at the first wall or the second wall with increased velocity so as to increase the heat transfer between the fluid and the first wall or the second wall.

  • Patent number: 11723173
Abstract: A cold plate assembly for cooling an electronic device includes a manifold, a comb insert, and a first vaned plate. The manifold is formed to define a cavity therein. The comb insert is located in the cavity includes channels defined by walls for receiving a fluid from passages in the manifold and transferring heat to the fluid. The first vaned plate includes a first panel and first channel vanes extending away from the first panel. The first vaned plate is removably coupled with the comb insert such that first channel vanes are located within the channels to guide the fluid. Each first channel vane extends from a wall toward a neighboring wall at an angle to direct the fluid to impinge upon the neighboring wall with increased velocity so as to increase the heat transfer between the neighboring wall and the fluid.

  • Patent number: 11380945
Abstract: A thermal management system and method for regulating the dissipation of a thermal load during operation of a vehicle. The thermal management system including one or more cooling loops configured to regulate the temperature of at least one battery pack; and an energy recovery mechanism configured to recover energy dissipated upon the occurrence of a thermal runaway event. The amount of energy recovered maintains the power level at or above the level exhibited by the battery pack prior to the occurrence of the thermal runaway event. Upon the occurrence of the thermal runaway event, the energy recovery mechanism transforms the cooling loop into a Rankine cycle loop or uses a Seebeck effect to recover energy.

  • Patent number: 11014686
Abstract: A redundant, load-sharing system and method for distributing electrical power to components in a vehicle. The system including a source of power, multiple power distribution buses, a plurality of switching devices and at least two channel controllers. The system being configured to isolate the components and power sources that are determined to be electrically noisy from the components and the power sources that are sensitive to electric noise. Each of the components may be assigned a priority based on the criticality of the component to the operation of the vehicle. In the event of at least a partial loss of power in one or more of the power distribution buses, the switching devices disconnect the components from the effected power distribution buses in reverse order of the assigned priority.
