  • Patent number: 7522097
Abstract: A method to compensate for radar platform angular motion may include measuring or estimating any radar platform angular motion. The method may also include substantially decoupling each array subsection response of a plurality of array subsection responses from any radar platform angular motion by applying continuous time varying phase adjustments to each individual array subsection response, prior to forming composite array Sum and monopulse Delta beam responses The time varying phase adjustments may be determined in response to any radar platform angular motion measured or estimated.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 8, 2005
Date of Patent: April 21, 2009
    Assignee: The Boeing Company
    Inventor: David R. Wakeman
  • Patent number: 4305074
Abstract: An electromagnetic detection apparatus for sensing an object, has a transter for radiating electromagnetic energy toward the object. The apparatus also has an array of at least three spaced receiving antennas and one parasitic antenna. The parasitic antenna is spaced from and mounted alongside the array. Also included is a phase detection circuit for measuring the phase difference between signals received by one of the receiving antennas with respect to the other two. This apparatus can sense phase difference and correlate it to the azimuthal position of the object.

Inventors: Luis C. Barzana, Dennis A. Green, David R. Wakeman
  • Patent number: 4245559
Abstract: An antitank weapon system is shown to include a projectile carrying at least one pulsed laser radar which periodically illuminates swaths of the underlying terrain, means for processing return signals to distinguish between the radar signatures of objects on such terrain and means for firing submunitions to impact on any object whose radar signature corresponds to that of a tank or other desired target.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 2, 1979
Date of Patent: January 20, 1981
    Assignee: Raytheon Company
Inventors: David R. Wakeman, Olin C. Brown, III
