  • Publication number: 20100223861
Abstract: An apparatus to prevent birds from crashing into glass is affixed over the exterior of a window glass. It comprises two parallel rods of equal length between which are affixed a plurality of fine strings. The strings are perpendicular to the rods and parallel to one another. Either of the rods, which are identical, is affixed horizontally to a surface above the glass window. The second rod is positioned horizontally beneath the glass area so that the said strings run straight and parallel over the glass. Thus, by placing strings at a distance in front of the glass so as to allow their reflections to be noticed by approaching birds, which reflections will be seen by the birds as converging and separating and perceived as motion that will warn them off. The second horizontal rod can be affixed to the surface directly below the glass, or alternatively, it may simply hang by its own weight. The apparatus is adjustable to fit windows of varying heights by means of rolling one rod towards the other.

  • Patent number: 4796384
Abstract: A security grille for disposition at a window, door or the like has at least a pair of vertically spaced tubular cross bars and a vertically extending tubular side member through which the grille may be fastened to a wall. Horizontal legs of a pair of angle members telescope into the ends of the cross bars while vertical legs of the angle members telescope into opposite ends of the side member. The construction enables horizontal expansion and contraction to accommodate to different installations, enables use of the side member with grilles having different cross bar spacings in the vertical direction and enables variation of the location of the attachment of the grille to the wall without displacement of the remainder of the grille. In the preferred form, the side member is fastened to the wall by latch mechanism having an enclosed cam which normally engages a pin on the side member but which can be actuated to release the pin and open the grille with a single movement of an actuator lever.

  • Patent number: 4681354
Abstract: A latch for a window grill utilizes an upper latch member and a lower latch member spring biased together and each having side panels adapted to engage a wedge or cam member for moving the upper and lower latch members toward and away from each other. The upper and lower latch members, as well as the wedge and cam members, are adapted to slidably engage the walls of a generally rectangular housing, which housing acts as a guide to the moving parts.

  • Patent number: 4498694
Abstract: A door repair device utilizes a generally rectangular U-shaped member adapted to enclose and engage the edge of a door proximate the latch and door handle location. The door latch mechanism is mounted on the saddle portion of the U-shaped member with a latch plate sandwiched between the door latch mechanism and the inside surface of the saddle portion. A tubular extension member is combined with a machine screw and fastener member to provide a means for countersinking the head of the fastener making it flush with the outside surface of the generally flat saddle portion of the U-shaped member.
