  • Patent number: 11962860
Abstract: The disclosed computer-implemented method may include systems for generating personalized avatar reactions during live video broadcasts. For example, the systems and methods described herein can access a social networking system user's profile to identify an avatar associated with the social networking system user. The systems and methods can generate an avatar reaction by modifying one or more features of the avatar based on a corresponding emoticon reaction. Once generated, the social networking system user can select the avatar reaction for addition to an ephemeral reaction stream associated with a live video broadcast. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20220101819
Abstract: Mechanism that converts a rotary knob (potentiometer) motion on an electric guitar, into a linear sliding motion. The sliding motion can be easily manipulated by the strumming or picking hand of the musician while simultaneously playing the instrument. This mechanism allows an electric guitarist to make sweeping motions with the picking hand while playing to create musical effects with the tone control known as a “wah wah” sound, or “boo wah” sound, and the volume control to create effects known as “volume swells” or volume “tremolo”. The way this mechanism works is by pushing and pulling on a finger loop that is positioned for easy access, the finger loop is fastened to a trolley that has two bearings on it that roll in a track in the main body. The trolley has a gear rack fastened to it and that gear rack rotates a gear that is fastened to the knob stem on the potentiometer, and the action will rotate the potentiometer to its full range.

  • Patent number: 10990689
Abstract: Systems and methods for governing access to or use of assets in an analytics platform. Access to assets is controlled with policies that reference attributes. A context of an access request is defined by collecting attributes associated with an access request. The context is then evaluated in light of attributes referenced by the policy applicable to the asset or with a class of the asset. The access request is granted, denied, or partially granted based on whether the attributes defined by the context of the access request comport with the policy.

  • Publication number: 20210090232
Abstract: A method of completing a masked image includes, in part, identifying a multitude of images that are visually similar to the masked image, retrieving a first subset of images from the multitude of images, setting parameters of a neural network to a first set of values in accordance with the data represented by the first retrieved subset, and using the neural network with the first set of parameters to complete the masked image if the neural network having the first set of parameters is determined to meet a threshold value. If the neural network having the first set of parameters is determined not to meet the threshold value, in an iterative manner, another subset of images different from the first subset is retrieved, and the parameters of the neural network are then updated in accordance with the data represented by the other subset until the threshold value is met.

  • Patent number: 10754838
Abstract: A registration framework is disclosed that allows assets to be registered with an analytics platform. When an asset is ingested into the analytics platform, the registration framework operates to register the asset in an asset roster. The asset roster identifies the asset and stores information about the asset. The registration framework can then be used by users to discover assets. Assets may also be deployed by the registration framework to workspaces.

  • Publication number: 20190294924
Abstract: A method of training a computer vision to visually recognize and identify objects includes, in part, supplying N pairs of images to the computer with each pair including first and second images. The first image in each pair includes data representative of a scene as well as an object to be recognized. The second image of each pair includes only the data representative of the scence and thus does not include the object. The training method may further include minimizing a loss function represented by a sum, over all N images, of a conditional probability of finding the object in the i-th image and a conditional probability of not finding the object in the i-th image.

  • Patent number: 8489816
Abstract: A predictive model specifies a workload to be applied to a hierarchy of caches having multiple levels of caches. The predictive model defines a configuration for the hierarchy of caches by specifying cache characteristics of each level of the hierarchy of caches and the underlying storage pool and applies the workload to the configuration. For each level of the configuration, the predictive model computes a performance metric based on a portion of the workload satisfied at the level and the cache characteristics of the level. The predictive model computes resource allocation metrics based on the performance metric for the levels and a cost associated with the configuration. Based on the workload, the configuration, performance metrics, and resource allocation metrics, the predictive model creates a design time recommendation for the hierarchy of caches, a configuration time recommendation and run time recommendation for the hierarchy of caches.

  • Patent number: 7165105
Abstract: A method for logical view visualization of user behavior in a networked computer environment that includes sites that a user may visit and wherein the sites comprise pages that the user may view and/or resources that the user may request includes the step of collecting raw data representing user behavior which can include requesting resources, viewing pages and visiting sites by the user. This raw data is then refined or pre-processed into page views and visit data and stored in a data mart. Pages are clustered into super pages, and page to super page mappings reflecting the relationship between pages and super pages are stored in the data mart. An automated clustering means is applied to the page view, visit and super page data in the data mart to discover clusters of visits to define super visits having visit behavior characteristics. The visit data stored in the data mart is then scored against the super visit clusters to classify visits into super visits according to visit behavior characteristics.

  • Patent number: 6880491
Abstract: Method and apparatus for generating superheated steam from industrial grade hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide and a combustible fluid are injected into a first part of the combustion chamber to form a reactant mixture. The reactant mixture is ignited, to allow for the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide and the generation of superheated steam, which exits from a second part of the combustion chamber. An improved combustion efficiency is realized with the implementation of a flame holder.

  • Patent number: 6816854
Abstract: An improved system for database query processing by means of “query decomposition” intercepts database queries prior to processing by a database management system (“DBMS”). The system decomposes at least selected queries to generate multiple subqueries for application, in parallel, to the DBMS, in lieu of the intercepted query. Responses by the DBMS to the subqueries are assembled by the system to generate a final response. The system also provides improved methods and apparatus for storage and retrieval of records from a database utilizing the DBMS's cluster storage and index retrieval facilitates, in combination with a smaller-than-usual hash bucket size.
