    Abstract: The invention provides methods of treating autoimmune diseases by administration of a complete therapeutically effective amount of a CD20 specific antagonist as a single intravenous infusion. Retreatment may follow by the administration of a complete therapeutically effective amount of the CD20 specific antagonist by a single intravenous infusion, 4 to 6 months after the first administration. The CD20 specific antagonist preferably is a CD20 specific antibody, and the autoimmune disease preferably is rheumatoid arthritis.
