Components of the discontinuous phase can chemically react with each other or with water when water is blended with the nonaqueous cleansing or skin treatment composition during consumer use. In a second embodiment, a solidified cleansing or skin treatment composition is described which contains components that can chemically react with each other or with water when water is blended with the solidified cleansing composition during consumer use. Methods for treating the skin with the inventive compositions are also described.

Abstract: An article that is especially suitable for cleansing skin is described which includes a foamable composition having the form of an elastic semi-solid gel and a fibrous layer made up of a continuous network of bonded fibers. The weight ratio of the foamable composition to the fibrous layer is in the range from about 30 to 1 to about 2000 to 1 and the foamable composition at least partially encompasses the fibrous layer.

Further, a personal cleansing article is described wherein the hydroentangled textile is associated with a personal cleansing composition that includes a lathering surfactant. The composition is deposited onto, impregnated into or at least is partially enclosed by the textile. Also described is a process for producing the textile involving feeding into a hydroentangling unit a loose random assembly of fibers both above and below a fibrous screen modifying textile substrate.

Abstract: A motorized personal skin care implement capable of use with a disposable, single-use, skin care pad is disclosed with a molded hook arrangement for releasably but firmly holding the pad while cleansing or treating the skin but allowing for quick removal and replacement with a fresh cleansing or treatment pad. A method of using the skin care implement and a kit containing at least one pad and the implement is also described.

The articles have a substantially red color defined by L*,a*,b* chromaticity values falling within a specific region of the CIE color space and exhibit a low tendency for discoloration in storage and use.

Abstract: A method of treating a waste stream comprising feeding a waste stream into a reactor constructed and arranged for a fast start and maintained in a thermophilic temperature regime of between about 50° C. and 62° C. for a HRT of less than or equal to 48 hours, wherein the reactor contents are maintained at a pH less than or equal to 6.5; drawing a portion of the contents of the reactor and feeding the drawn contents into a second reactor which is maintained in a mesophilic temperature regime of between about 28° C. to 38° C. for a HRT of at least thirteen days; and replacing the contents drawn from the first reactor with more waste from the waste stream. Alternately, the waste stream may be initially treated in a mesophilic reactor, followed by treatment in a thermophilic reactor, or a single stage thermophilic reactor may be used.
