  • Patent number: 10586678
Abstract: Disclosed herein are superconducting gantry magnets that include multiple quadrupole winding sections placed in sequence on a curve such that the effective current direction is reversed between sections. This produces alternating quadrupole field regions along the length of the bend whose individual integral strengths can be tuned by the location of the current polarity transitions. A simple transition scheme to reverse the current between sections can be implemented to allow for the use of one continuous winding and power supply. Dipole windings can be included in the superconducting gantry magnets so that the magnets produce superposed dipole and alternating quadrupole fields. The disclosed design for the windings and transition scheme to reverse current polarity can be implemented for higher order multipoles as well.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 8, 2016
Date of Patent: March 10, 2020
Assignee: The Regents of the University of California
Inventors: Shlomo Caspi, Lucas Brouwer, Weishi Wan, David Robin, Soren Prestemon

  • Patent number: 9625742
Abstract: Disclosed is an optical article, preferably an ophthalmic lens, including a substrate having at least one main surface and a precursor coating of an anti-fog coating, the precursor coating in direct contact with either the main surface of the substrate, or with a first coating, when the main surface of the substrate is coated with a first coating, the precursor coating being formed by a deposition of at least one hydrophilic compound A on the substrate or on the first coating, including an inner portion in which the compound A is grafted on the substrate or on the first coating, and an outer portion that can be removed by washing and/or wiping, resulting from the deposition of the compound A, and being coated with a temporary layer, in direct contact with the compound, including at least one compound selected from the metal fluorides and the compounds including magnesium and oxygen.

  • Publication number: 20070076301
Abstract: Process for coloring an optical lens by spin coating which comprises (i) increasing or decreasing the temperature of at least one zone of the lens surface by at least 2° C. by any suitable means and (ii) simultaneously, or successively, depositing a colored coating comprising a volatile solvent over the entire surface of the lens by spin coating. The subject of the invention is also a method of controlling the thickness of a coating, deposited by spin coating over the whole lens, and a colored lens obtained by the coloring process of the invention.
