Patent number: 11770558Abstract: Methods and apparatus for stereoscopic image encoding and decoding are described. Left and right eye images are encoded following an entropy reduction operation being applied to one of the eye images when there is a difference between the left and right images of an image pair. Information about regions of negative parallax within the entropy reduced image of an image pair is encoded along with the images. Upon decoding a sharpening filter is applied to the image in an image pair which was subjected to the entropy reduction operation. In addition edge enhancement filtering is performed on the regions of the recovered entropy reduced image which are identified in the encoded image data as regions of negative parallax. Interleaving of left and right eye images at the input of the encoder combined with entropy reduction allows for efficient encoding, storage, and transmission of 3D images.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2020Date of Patent: September 26, 2023Assignee: Nevermind Capital LLCInventors: David Michael Cole, Alan McKay Moss, David Roller, Jr.

Publication number: 20130251901Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for coating a particulate material. A mixer defines a mixing chamber and receives a particulate material. An agitator includes a plurality of arms projecting radially outward from the shaft and a plurality of paddle blades positioned on the ends of the arms. The blades are formed such that the particulate material in the mixing chamber is directed in a rotational direction, a radially inward direction and an axial direction within the mixing chamber. A material feed system is provided for delivering a first coating material into the mixing chamber during rotation of the agitator, a polymer material during mixing of the coated particulate material and a reaction material for causing a reaction between the colorant feed and the polymer feed for creating an encapsulated particulate material.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2012Publication date: September 26, 2013Applicant: Becker Underwood, Inc.Inventors: Stephen M. Patent number: 8451320Abstract: Methods and apparatus for performing stereoscopic image encoding and decoding are described. Left and right eye images are generated. Image difference information is generated, e.g., a set of pixel values resulting from XORing the pixel values of the left and right eye images. One of the left and right eye images is compressed along with the difference map. The compressed image and compressed difference map is stored and/or transmitted. Stereoscopic images are generated by decompressing and using the received compressed image and compressed difference information. Prior to generation of the difference map the left and right eye images may be subject to a transposition operation to minimize the differences between the images and thus the size of the difference map. When transposition is applied, transposition information is stored and communicated in addition to the compressed image data so that the transposition can be reversed during the stereoscopic image generation process.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2010Date of Patent: May 28, 2013Assignee: Next3D, Inc.Inventors: David Michael Cole, Alan McKay Moss, David Roller, Jr.

Patent number: 7734316Abstract: A mobile wireless communication device, and methods therein, including producing a user-configurable sensory output (620) upon the occurrence of some event on the device, for example, the transition between sleep and active modes, or the mechanical actuation of a portion of the device. In some embodiments, the user-configurable sensory output terminates (630) after a specified time period. In other embodiments, a service provider selects the sensory output and associates it with a particular event that occurs on the device, whereupon the sensory output is produced on the device upon the occurrence of the event, for example, to communication information from the service provider.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2002Date of Patent: June 8, 2010Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventors: Patrick Cauwels, Steven Herbst, David Roller, Peter Wyatt

Patent number: 7602698Abstract: A sub-network system includes line modules configured to receive bridged traffic signals over individual corresponding channels. The line modules are grouped into sets at a lower protection layer and an upper protection layer. The line modules are activated/deactivated based on different upper and lower protection schemes associated with the upper and lower protection layers. The sub-network also includes state maps associated with each of the line modules. The state maps store state data that activates and deactivates the line modules. The state maps are updated in accordance with the upper protection scheme to perform inter-leg switching between a first line module and a second line module. A network control module interconnected with the line modules performs inter-leg switching by updating the state data in the state maps for corresponding line modules in associated working and protection legs.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2004Date of Patent: October 13, 2009Assignee: Tellabs Operations, Inc.Inventors: Rajan V. Rao, Ambrose Jay Slone, Sridhar Vasireddy, Christopher David Roller
