  • Publication number: 20250316909
Abstract: Disclosed are a method of reflecting a microwave/MMW beam in a desired direction with a reflector that comprises an electromagnetic metasurface and also to a microwave/MMW reflector. In some embodiments, the reflector is tunable by projecting light (in some embodiments, the projected light constituting an image) on a portion of a reflector that includes light-sensitive components. The projecting of the light controllably sets a value of an electrical property of at least one of the light-sensitive components, where the values of the electrical property of the light-sensitive components collectively determine the phase-shift that the metasurface induces in an incident microwave/MMW beam which induced phase-shift determines the direction in which the beam is reflected.

  • Patent number: 12418115
Abstract: A reconfigurable metasurface sub reflector comprises an array of cell units. Each sub unit is formed of two sub-unit cells formed with at least two conducting layers separated by a dielectric substrate. One conducting layer has, in each of the sub-unit cells, two parallel strips connected by a varactor and the other conducting layer serves as a ground layer. Setting the reverse biasing for each of the varactors controls the azimuth and elevation of reflection from the reconfigurable metasurface sub reflector.

  • Publication number: 20250253538
Abstract: A system for counteracting antenna movement in a directional antenna, including a feed horn for providing an electromagnetic signal, a sub-reflector for controlling a direction of reflection of the electromagnetic signal provided by the feed horn, and a main reflector for reflecting the electromagnetic signal arriving from the sub-reflector and transmitting the electromagnetic signal reflected from the main reflector, wherein the sub-reflector includes a metasurface controllable to alter the direction of reflection of the electromagnetic signal by coordinated changes of phase over the sub-reflector surface. A sub-reflector for an antenna, the sub-reflector including a metasurface, wherein the metasurface is controllable to alter a direction of reflection of an electromagnetic signal by coordinated changes of phase over the sub-reflector surface. Related apparatus and methods are also described.
