  • Publication number: 20050195742
Abstract: A scheduler block that schedules and shapes packets such as ATM cells. The scheduler block includes multiple queues. Each queue is associated with a physical layer device. Each queue stores packets intended for the physical layer device associated with that queue. Each packet has a priority level associated therewith and a weight indicative of the priority level of that packet. The scheduler block also includes a shaper that retrieves packets from the queues and forwards the packets to the interface. The order in which the packets are retrieved from the plurality of queues is based on the weight assigned to each packet. For each physical layer device, the shaper shapes the packets retrieved from the queue associated with that physical layer device based on a data rate for that physical layer device.

  • Publication number: 20030231615
Abstract: The present invention relates telecommunication systems with virtual connections for voice over digital subscriber lines. In one embodiment, a digital subscriber line (DSL) access device is disclosed. The device comprises a network port, a plurality of local ports and an access function. The network port is adapted to receive cells on at least one aggregated permanent virtual connection. The plurality of local ports are adapted to interface a plurality of local permanent virtual connections. The access function is adapted to translate the cells between aggregated permanent virtual connections and the plurality of local permanent virtual connections.

  • Publication number: 20030193953
Abstract: A method for automatic provisioning of ATM traffic is provided. The method includes receiving upstream asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) data from customer premises equipment, detecting the port number at which the upstream ATM data is received, and reading a first virtual path identifier (VPI) number of the upstream ATM data from the header information. The method further includes acquiring a new VPI number for the upstream ATM traffic based on the receiving port number and the first VPI number, attaching the new VPI number to the upstream ATM traffic, and directly mapping the ATM traffic onto one or more TDM transmission lines.

  • Publication number: 20020171576
Abstract: A digital to analog converter is provided. The converter includes a multi-bit counter, a first and a second plurality of logic gates coupled to the multi-bit counter, a digital input selectively coupled to the first and second plurality of logic gates. . The converter further includes a first AND gate coupled to an output of the first plurality of logic gates and a second AND gate coupled to an output of the second plurality of logic gates. In addition, the converter includes a clock coupled to an input of the first and second AND gates and an input of the multi-bit counter and a filter coupled to an output of the first and second AND gates, wherein the filter includes an output for an analog signal based on the digital input.
