Patent number: 10909785Abstract: A base control module for vehicles comprises, a controller which includes a housing, a programmable processor, on-board memory, and a plurality of inputs and outputs. The module also comprises, a set of pluggable module interfaces each comprising a standardized connector for any of a plurality of interchangeable pluggable modules, with each pluggable module having a different functionality, and each connector having a plurality of pins. A standardized communication protocol is provided between the base control module and any of the pluggable modules. Adaptable software on the base control module that can assign different configurations for the pins of the connector dependent upon the functionality of the pluggable module for those pins. The same base control module and set of pluggable module interfaces can be used for different pluggable modules.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2018Date of Patent: February 2, 2021Assignee: TriMark CorporationInventors: David S. Magner, Anita L. Reichling, Nicholas L. Kloxin, Todd Keaffaber, Santosh Balakrishnan, Robert D. Lawson

Patent number: 10385594Abstract: A power locking door handle with capacitive sensing is provided for heavy duty vehicles. The door handle includes a base surface mounted to the exterior of the vehicle door and a hand grip mounted or formed with the base. The handle may be a pull type or push button type. A power lock motor and printed circuit board with a capacitive sensor are sealed within the base. When an operator's hand is inserted between the hand grip and the base, the capacitive sensor sends a signal via the PCB to the motor to unlock the door latch. A key lock cylinder on the base overrides the lock motor if power to the motor is disabled.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2017Date of Patent: August 20, 2019Assignee: TriMark CorporationInventors: David S. Magner, Anita L. Reichling, Nicolas L. Kloxin, Todd Keaffaber, Santosh Balakrishnan

Patent number: 9441403Abstract: A power locking pull or push button handle assembly is provided for a vehicle door having a lock and a latch. The handle assembly includes a base with a housing. A handle is pivotally mounted on the base, a power lock assembly is mounted within the housing on the base, and a keypad on the handle is operatively connected to the power lock assembly for keyless unlocking of the door. The handle includes a cover and backbone secured together, with the keypad sandwiched between the cover and backbone. The keypad is reinforced with a steel plate. Loads on the handle are shared by the backbone, cover, and keypad.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2014Date of Patent: September 13, 2016Assignee: TRIMARK CORPORATIONInventors: Jason Kraus, Anita L. Reichling, Eric Wickstrom, David S. Magner

Patent number: 9399879Abstract: A handle assembly is provided for a door of a vehicle storage or baggage compartment and includes a latch module press fit onto the housing of the assembly. The handle assembly also includes a lock assembly with a security plate to preclude unauthorized manipulation of the lock arm. In one embodiment, a position switch is associated with the latch rotor to sense the unlatched position of the rotor. A remote control power unit may also be provided on the handle assembly for locking and unlocking the latch module via a key fob or other access system user interface. An LED may be associated with the power unit to indicate locking and unlocking events, or other vehicle status information. The mounting bracket of the assembly may be selected from interchangeable brackets for manual or power actuation of the lock assembly.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2011Date of Patent: July 26, 2016Assignee: TriMark CorporationInventors: Jayden F. Patent number: 9159219Abstract: A control system for a power assisted door, the electronic door control system includes an intelligent control, a plurality of sensor inputs operatively connected to the intelligent control, the plurality of sensor inputs associated with state of a plurality of mechanical components of the power assisted door, and a power drive operatively connected to the intelligent control for providing opening and closing of the power assisted door. The intelligent control is configured to monitor status of the plurality of sensor inputs and control the power drive at least partially based on the status of the plurality of sensor inputs. The intelligent control may be adapted to determine when state of the plurality of sensor inputs is indicative of one or more conditions which would preclude safe door movement. A power distribution module may also be present to assist in limiting current draw and to allow for charging.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2010Date of Patent: October 13, 2015Assignee: Trimark CorporationInventors: David S. Magner, John Todd Bergman
