  • Patent number: 11963691
Abstract: A surgical instrument, has an end effector that includes an ultrasonic blade, and a clamp arm that moves relative to the ultrasonic blade from an opened position toward an intermediate position and a closed position. The clamp arm is offset from the ultrasonic blade to define a predetermined gap in the intermediate position between the opened position and the closed position. A clamp arm actuator connects to the clamp arm and moves from an opened configuration to a closed configuration to direct the clamp arm from the opened position toward the intermediate position and the closed position. A spacer connects with the clamp arm to inhibit movement of the clamp arm from the intermediate position toward the closed position for maintaining the predetermined gap between the clamp arm and the ultrasonic blade.

  • Patent number: 9062073
Abstract: Provided herein are benzopyrimido-pyrrolo-oxazine-dione (BPO) compounds and pyrimido-pyrrolo-quinoxalinedione (PPQ) compounds, and compositions comprising these compounds, that inhibit cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) mediated ion transport and that are useful for treating diseases and disorders associated with aberrantly increased CFTR chloride channel activity, such as polycystic kidney disease and secretory diarrheas. The compounds and compositions comprising the compounds described herein may be used for inhibiting expansion or preventing formation of cysts in persons who have polycystic kidney disease.

  • Patent number: 5709309
Abstract: A sound attenuating drain stop for an orifice in an automotive floor pan has a resilient plug portion disposed in the orifice and a drainage bore extending axially therethrough, an annular groove for receiving the body panel so as to secure the plug portion thereto, and a compliant element completely obstructing the bore and selectively unobstructing cross-sectional areas of the bore in response to weight variation of fluid thereabove. The compliant element has a resilient, three-legged bridge member spanning the bore and deflectable under the weight of a first predetermined quantity of fluid to drain fluid above the element, and three pie-shaped flexible flaps defined by the bridge member and extending from an interior surface of the bore to the bridge member, the flexible flaps deflectable under the weight of a second predetermined quantity of water when the bridge member is undeflected.
