  • Patent number: 4568691
Abstract: The invention concerns novel esters of 4-(1-hydroxy-2-[(acylamino)alkylamino]ethyl)phenols of the formula: ##STR1## and salts thereof, wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are (3-5C)alkyl, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are hydrogen or methyl, A is a direct bond or methylene, and Q is various heteroaromatic containing groups. The esters possess topical anti-inflammatory properties and the invention provides pharmaceutical compositions containing the esters and processes for their chemical manufacture.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 20, 1984
Date of Patent: February 4, 1986
    Assignee: Imperial Chemical Industries, PLC
Inventors: Peter R. Marsham, David S. Thomson

  • Patent number: 4470997
Abstract: The invention concerns di- and tri-esters derived from alkanoic, (cycloalkyl)alkanoic, benzoic or phenylalkanoic acids with N-(acylaminoalkyl)-dihydroxyphenylethanolamines, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; processes for their preparation and manufacture; and pharmaceutical compositions thereof. The esters are useful for the topical treatment of an area of inflammation affecting the skin of a warm-blooded animal. Representative esters of the invention are 1-[3,4-bis(pivaloyloxy)phenyl]-2-[2-(2-phenylacetamido)ethylamino]-ethanol , 1-[3,4-bis(pivaloyloxy)phenyl]-2-[1,1-dimethyl-2-(2-phenoxyacetamido)ethy lamino]-ethanol, and the hydrochlorides and hydrobromides thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 9, 1982
Date of Patent: September 11, 1984

  • Patent number: 4152341
Abstract: Pharmaceutical compositions, containing a 4,4'-dihydroxy-3,3'-triphenylmethanedicarboxylic acid (or an oxidized derivative) as active ingredient, are described and are prepared conventionally in a form suitable for topical administration e.g. ointment. The compositions are useful for the treatment of inflammatory diseases and inflammatory conditions of the skin. Many of the active ingredients are novel compounds. A representative novel active ingredient is 4"-cyano-4,4'-dihydroxy-5,5'-dimethyl-3,3'-triphenylmethanedicarboxylic acid.
