  • Patent number: 4240863
Abstract: A control system for an elastomer extrusion and application apparatus (10,16) including an extrusion rate measuring device (60,200) for receiving a ribbon (12) of extruded elastomer and for providing a signal representing the rate of extrusion, a drive (18) for moving an article (14) to have the ribbon of extruded elastomer applied thereto in a predetermined path, an applicator (16,20,22) along the path for receiving the ribbon and applying the same to the article, a resolver (176) connected to the applicator for providing a signal representative of the rate of application of the ribbon to the article, and a control (FIG. 5) for controlling the speed of the article drive including a circuit for receiving the signals and adjusting the speed of the drive to match a desired proportion between the rate of extrusion and the rate of application.

  • Patent number: 3992035
Abstract: A tandem axle suspension system for a vehicle includes a first axle including non-adjustable fixed spring means for connecting the axle for support of the frame of the vehicle, and a second axle including an adjustable hydraulic spring means and including leveling valve means responsive to the distance between the second axle and the frame means for controlling communication of fluid to the second or adjustable hydraulic spring means.

  • Patent number: 3963085
Abstract: A drive train for coupling the engine to the wheels of a vehicle has a compact combination of planetary gearing, transfer gearing and fluid pressure controlled clutches and brakes which may be conditioned to realize any of a plurality of operational modes to accommodate to different driving conditions. The available operational modes include ordinary two wheel drive, two wheel overdrive, a conventional four wheel drive action wherein power tends to be equally divided between front and rear axles, and an alternate four wheel drive mode wherein a predetermined division of torque is established between the front and rear axles together with a differential action therebetween. In a preferred form, the drive system may also be conditioned for parking by locking front and rear axles against rotation.

  • Patent number: 3939936
Abstract: A vehicle, which includes a motor having rotary output means, further includes a pair of torque converters, both driven by the rotary output means of the motor. Each torque converter drives a multi-speed transmission, and both transmissions drive a rotatable shaft, the rotation of which drives the front and rear wheels of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 3938669
Abstract: A pipelayer comprising a tractor vehicle having an extensible boom pivotally mounted to the vehicle and extended to one side thereof is provided with a hydraulic circuit for performing all operations of the boom and accessories. The hydraulic circuitry comprises a low volume source of fluid selectively directable to a first plurality of the motors of the machine for operating these motors at a low speed and a second source of fluid including circuits for selectively directing the fluid to a second plurality of motors including some of the first motors. Two motors within the circuit may be operated from either of the sources of fluid. Valve means are interconnected for simultaneous control for selectively directing fluid from either of the sources to the two motors.
